And he will probably speak on topics like "How not to love the world" Gehazi will also speak on "Ministry with Contentment" And Judas will preach powerfully on "Loyalty to Jesus" Because the whole idea behind many modern ministry models is eloquence, aura and fame. Everyone gets wowed at cheap talks without crucified lives. Everyone gives applause to people whose lives contradict their sermons. Sweet lips are loved and celebrated even if the heart that powers them is full of darkness and deceit. Again, we are responsible for the success of wicked men in our midst, If we insist on judging men by their lives and not their pulpits, we would have chased many pulpit bandits out of ministry.

The fact that "Church was fun" seems to be the best compliment we now consistently receive for a great service worries me much. I can't imagine Paul preaching night and day with tears in his eyes and zest in his soul, only to always hear his audience say, "Church was fun today" Church can even be fun on some occasions, but the fact that when it isn't fun( Whatever that even means) many people notice it and complain suggests that fun is now the main essence of our gathering. My major worry is that too many people think that the word of God preached alongside worship and prayers rendered to God for a couple of hours every week is too boring, and that we need to spice things up to have a better church experience. The first church service closed with sinful men trembling with conviction and asking... "What shall we do to be saved"? The average church service closes with everyone reminiscing on how much fun we had.

An Open Letter to the Church: We Need to Talk About What Is Really Happening. This morning, I woke up with a burden. And the burden is this: what is happening in our Christian landscape is becoming increasingly troubling. There is a lot of mess. We have come to a point where people are beginning to make allowances for licentiousness, revelries, sexual immorality, bitterness, malice, and other forms of ungodliness. And what is even more painful is that whenever subjects like these come up (subjects that are uncomfortable for many people) we often choose the easier path: ignore them, explain them away, or protect the people and systems involved. In doing so, we leave wounded people behind. And even when we eventually talk about these things, we sometimes want to address the individual failure without addressing the systemic failures and institutional weaknesses that may have allowed those things to develop in the first place. That troubles me deeply. Yesterday, although I am not online as much as I used to be, I came online and came across conversations surrounding a situation involving several people who profess to be Christians. I saw pictures and read some of the conversations surrounding the matter, and honestly, I was troubled. Not simply because people had fallen into sin. If this were merely a case of people falling into sin, making terrible mistakes, recognizing their sin, repenting, and seeking restoration, that would be an entirely different conversation. Christians fall. Christians make terrible decisions. Christians can sin grievously. The gospel does not teach that Christians are incapable of falling. But there is a significant difference between falling into sin and being broken over it and settling into habitual sin, defending it, normalizing it, and continuing in it without genuine repentance. Paul asks in Romans 6:1–2: “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Certainly not!” That is the question we must ask. Because somewhere along the line, we have begun to confuse grace with permission. Biblical grace does not merely forgive us; biblical grace transforms us. Paul says that the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation, and that this same grace “teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts” (Titus 2:11–12). So if our understanding of grace makes us increasingly comfortable with deliberate, habitual sin, something is fundamentally wrong with that understanding of grace. But We Need to Look Beyond the Individuals. As I read through the accounts surrounding this particular situation, what troubled me most was not simply the allegations of sexual immorality, marital conflict, infidelity, abuse, bitterness, and all the other things being discussed. What troubled me was the history behind the situation. If the accounts circulating are substantially accurate, then we are not looking at one isolated moment of failure. We are looking at a long chain of decisions, relationships, theological influences, failures of accountability, marital problems, bitterness, and other issues that appear to have accumulated over time. And that raises a much bigger question: How did these people get to this point? What kind of discipleship were they receiving? Who was speaking into their lives? Who was holding them accountable? Who knew what was happening? Who attempted to intervene before things became this destructive? And perhaps most importantly: Where were the shepherds? This is why I am struggling with the way this entire matter is being discussed. People have chosen sides. Some are defending one person. Others are attacking another. Some are exposing private conversations. Others are trying to prove who is lying and who is telling the truth. And while everyone is busy fighting over the characters involved, I fear we are missing the bigger issue. The bigger issue is that something has gone terribly wrong. Where Is the Pastor? If a pastor solemnized a marriage, shepherded the couple, and had spiritual responsibility for them, wisdom would suggest that when serious marital problems arise, especially problems involving violence, infidelity, bitterness, separation, and deep relational breakdown, there should be pastoral intervention. Not social media intervention. Not celebrity intervention. Not blogger intervention. Pastoral intervention. The Bible gives the Church structures for dealing with sin, conflict, restoration, and discipline. Jesus says in Matthew 18 that when there is serious wrongdoing between believers, there is a process for addressing it. Paul tells the Galatians that when someone is caught in a trespass, spiritual people should restore such a person “in a spirit of gentleness” (Galatians 6:1). And Paul tells the Corinthians that the Church cannot simply ignore serious, persistent immorality in its midst (1 Corinthians 5). So where is the Church in all of this? Where is pastoral care? Where is accountability? Where is discipleship? Where is correction? Where is restoration? Where is holiness? Where is the fear of God? How did we get to a point where a marital crisis involving professing Christians can become a public war involving celebrities, bloggers, social media commentators, private conversations, accusations, counter-accusations, bitterness, hatred, and malice before the Church meaningfully intervenes? This cannot be normal. And Then There Is the Question of Hyper-Grace I know exactly what will happen because I have already experienced it. When I commented that this was a hyper-grace mess, people came for me. I was attacked. And I expected it. But two major arguments were repeatedly brought against me. The first was: “People in your tradition also do these things.” Yes. They do. And I have never denied it. In every Christian tradition, you will find people who sin. You will find pastors who fall. You will find people who commit sexual immorality. You will find people who abuse their positions. You will find churches that fail to respond properly. You will find people who cover up sin. And when that happens in my own tradition, I will call it out. If you find wrongdoing in my house, expose it. If you find sexual immorality in my house, confront it. If you find abuse in my house, confront it. If you find institutional failure in my house, confront it. If you find pastors covering up sin in my house, confront it. I will not defend sin because it happened in my camp. So the fact that something happens in another tradition cannot become an excuse for refusing to examine what is happening there. “What about your own people?” is not an answer to the question being asked. If there is a fire in my house, I should put it out. If there is a fire in your house, you should put it out too. The existence of fire in my house does not make the fire in yours less dangerous. And if someone points out the fire in my house, I should be grateful enough to put it out rather than respond by saying, “But your house has fire too.” Yes. Let's put out both fires. The Second Argument The second argument was that there have also been serious cases of abuse and immorality within our own circles. Absolutely. I remember cases where pastors and church workers have been accused or found to have committed terrible acts against vulnerable people. And when those things happened, people spoke. The Church was mentioned. The denomination was mentioned. The institution was mentioned. People demanded accountability. People asked what the church leadership knew. People asked what the institution did. People demanded discipline. And rightly so. So why should the conversation suddenly become different when the people involved belong to another theological tradition? Why should the system suddenly disappear from the conversation? If we rightly acknowledge that institutional culture, leadership structures, theological teaching, accountability systems, and pastoral oversight can contribute to an environment where abuse or immorality is tolerated, then we must be intellectually and morally consistent. We cannot demand systemic accountability when it is our own camp and suddenly say, “This is just about individuals” when it is someone else's camp. That is hypocrisy. There Is a Difference Between Falling and Living in Sin This distinction is important. I am not arguing that anyone who commits sexual sin is not a Christian. That is not my argument. The Church has always understood that Christians can fall into serious sin and that there is a path of repentance and restoration. David fell grievously. Peter denied Christ. The Corinthian church had serious moral problems. The question is not whether Christians can fall. They can. The question is what happens after the fall. Do we repent? Do we submit ourselves to correction? Do we accept accountability? Do we seek restoration? Do we change our behaviour? Do we pursue holiness? Or do we construct a theological framework that allows us to continue doing what God has called us to abandon? That is where I have a serious problem. There is a difference between a believer who falls into sin and cries out for restoration and a person who settles into a pattern of deliberate sin and becomes comfortable defending it. The former needs restoration. The latter needs confrontation. Paul did not tell the Corinthian church to celebrate their tolerance of sexual immorality. He told them to deal with it. Because grace is not God's permission for us to continue in what Christ died to deliver us from. I Need to Say Something About Hyper-Grace I know this is where some people will become angry with me. But I am going to say it anyway. I have personally known people whose lives have been deeply damaged by distorted teachings about grace. I have seen people become comfortable with sexual immorality because they were taught a version of grace that effectively removed the necessity of repentance, holiness, discipline, and accountability. And I am not saying that everyone who attends a hyper-grace church lives this way. Neither am I saying that every person who teaches strongly about grace teaches licentiousness. That would be an unfair caricature. But I will say this: Any teaching of grace that makes deliberate, habitual sin comfortable is a distortion of biblical grace. There is no biblical version of grace that says: “Continue in sexual immorality; Christ has already forgiven you.” There is no biblical version of grace that says: “You do not need repentance because your sins are already covered.” There is no biblical version of grace that makes holiness optional. Jude warned about people who “turn the grace of our God into licentiousness” (Jude 4). Paul anticipated the same abuse of grace in Romans 6. And Titus 2 tells us that grace teaches us to reject ungodliness. So when I criticize a theology that, in practice, produces comfort with habitual sin, I am not criticizing grace. I am defending grace. Because biblical grace does not merely remove the guilt of sin. It teaches us to hate what God hates and love what God loves. It brings forgiveness, but it also produces transformation. We Have Talked About Sin Too Little in the Right Way Perhaps one of the greatest problems in our generation is that we have become uncomfortable talking about sin. We talk about breakthrough. We talk about purpose. We talk about destiny. We talk about favour. We talk about miracles. We talk about success. We talk about grace. But we must also talk about holiness. We must talk about repentance. We must talk about sexual purity. We must talk about accountability. We must talk about church discipline. We must talk about the fear of God. We must talk about what it means to actually follow Jesus. Because Jesus did not call us merely to receive forgiveness. He called us to follow Him. And following Jesus means that His lordship reaches into our relationships, our sexuality, our marriages, our money, our private lives, our public lives, and our hidden lives. Christ is Lord over all of it. And We Must Talk About Systems This is perhaps the point I most desperately want us to understand. When something terrible happens, do not only ask: “Who sinned?” Ask: “What allowed this to continue for so long?” Ask: Who knew? Who should have known? Who was responsible? Was there accountability? Was there pastoral oversight? Was there proper counselling? Was there a safe process for reporting wrongdoing? Was anyone willing to confront the people involved? Was there a culture of covering things up? Was there a theological framework that made repentance unnecessary? Were people being discipled or merely entertained? These are not irrelevant questions. They are necessary questions. Because sometimes the greatest failure is not simply that one person sinned. Sometimes the greater failure is that an entire community saw the warning signs and did nothing. And when that happens, we have to be courageous enough to examine the system. Not because we hate the Church. Because we love the Church. Not because we want to destroy ministries. Because we want Christ to be honoured. Not because we want to embarrass people. Because wounded people matter. And not because we want to win denominational arguments. Because truth matters. We Need to Stop Choosing Camps and Start Choosing Truth I do not care whether the person involved is Reformed, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, or anything else. If there is sin, call it sin. If there is abuse, call it abuse. If there is manipulation, call it manipulation. If there is institutional failure, call it institutional failure. If there is bad theology, call it bad theology. And if there is repentance, let us make room for restoration. The standard is not my denomination. The standard is not your denomination. The standard is Christ and His Word. We cannot keep protecting our tribes while claiming to defend the truth. Paul says in Ephesians 5:11: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” But exposing darkness is not the same as publicly humiliating people. We must tell the truth and pursue redemption. We must confront sin and care for sinners. We must protect the vulnerable and believe in restoration. We must demand accountability without becoming vindictive. That is what Christian maturity looks like. So, yes, I will continue to speak when I see these things. And when I see them in my own house, I will speak there too. I am not interested in defending a tradition. I am interested in defending the truth. I am not interested in protecting a camp. I am interested in protecting people. I am not interested in winning arguments. I am interested in seeing the Church become what Christ called her to be. Holy. Truthful. Accountable. Compassionate. Repentant. Full of grace and truth. We have covered sin in some ways, and yet we have failed to confront it in others. Perhaps it is time we stopped asking only, “Whose side are you on?” And started asking the harder question: “What is Christ asking His Church to repent of?” Lord, help us.

If you're doing ministry, one of the most delicate issues you'll handle is a woman telling you about her marital issues with her husband. Be very careful. Let me make it explicit. If you don't make it an open case between them and the church leadership, you'll create an emotional relationship between the both of you. As a matter of wisdom, start with your wife. Make it an open case with your wife. Make a call, put it on loudspeaker and be adding, "babe, I hope you understand what I'm saying" so that your wife can be chipping in opinions and counsels. Also, be adding, I believe there certain things you and my wife will discuss later more closely. Women things. And a reasonable minister wife sometimes does it on the call herself: I'll call you, Toyin, and we'll talk two of us. There are some things we need to talk. In trying to provide pastoral care for such a member, you may fall into both pity and trying to play husband role. That's how many have fallen into disgraceful situations and immorality. There's a reason why the Bible stipulates that church ministers should be married. You don't want to be doing "my wife will not see our chats" as a married man. More distasteful as a Christian minister, married man. Women will always be your temptation in ministry, not because they're evil, but because nature is real. What happens to you in those temptations, a majority of the time is determined by your watchfulness, fear of God, self-denial, sacredness of your marriage union, and a consecration to please God. I pray that it didn't go beyond the things we've read, and that it serves a useful disciplinarian lesson for everyone.

Here's how I describe it. Hotels are great, but you can't cook in them, you can't do your own laundry effortlessly or reorganize the space, they are not designed to carry that need, that's what your own house is for. No human can carry the full weight of your soul, only Jesus can. Even you cannot carry the full weight of your partner's soul, you are not designed for that.

I was telling Nelson just yesterday that none of us actually know the full extent of our depravity You might get a glimpse every now and again, but I’ve come to realise that it’s nothing compared to what we’re all capable of And this is reason enough to clingggg tightly to the cross for grace, help and mercy every single day!

Nobody misinterprets the scripture more than a disobedient soul that wants to dazzle a crowd more than show them God’s way. The idol is you, it’s pride and God hates it. I will go as far as say that some of the things we see on screen is God’s judgment to a discerning crowd.
