When Kurt Russell was a kid, he worked with Charles Bronson. On discovering it was Bronson's birthday, Russell gave him a gift. Bronson took the gift and left without a word, leaving Russell worried he had upset him. Later, Bronson called Russell to his dressing room and quietly said he had never received a birthday gift before. Bronson grew up very poor, with fourteen siblings, and worked in mines from a young age, never completing school or experiencing much kindness. Bronson was touched by Russell's gesture. He later gifted Russell a skateboard for his birthday, and they became lifelong friends.
"So today I was in Hallmark buying my mom a Happy Birthday card when I noticed this old man standing in front of the Valentine's card section contemplating which one to get. I decide to go over and I ask him 'Are you getting a Valentine’s Day card for your wife?' in which he replies 'No, my wife died 3 years ago from breast cancer but I still buy her roses and a card and bring them to her grave to prove to her that she was the only one that will ever have my heart." ❤ Photo courtesy of Bringing Humor To Your Day with Love
"Yesterday Officer Robinson responded to a local elementary school for a child that was not picked up at the end of the school day. The parent is incarcerated and there were no other known family contacts. It was also the child's birthday. Thanks to the owners of our local McDonald's, we were given free cheeseburger coupons to hand out in certain situations. Officer Robinson took the child for a meal at McDonald's and a ride around in the police car for his birthday. The family was eventually located and the child was dropped off. Thank you to Officer Robinson for taking some extra time to celebrate the child's birthday; we are proud to have him as part of the Green Bay Police Department team!" The bond between Kurt Russell and Charles Bronson was not just limited to their shared screen time. Their camaraderie extended off-screen as well. In fact, Russell has often spoken about his fondness for Westerns, a genre that Bronson was well-known for. Charles Bronson, known for his rugged charm and intense on-screen presence, had a career that spanned over four decades. He captivated audiences with his magnetic performances and became synonymous with the tough guy persona. However, Bronson was not just a Hollywood icon. He was a man of many talents. Aside from acting, Charles Bronson was also a talented painter, with some of his artwork exhibited in galleries. After the TV series "The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters" ended, Russell signed a 10-year contract with Walt Disney. Bronson, on the other hand, became a big movie star in Europe and then returned to the United States. This divergence in their careers did not affect their friendship. Instead, it allowed them to carve their own paths in the film industry while maintaining their bond.
@fasc1nate The man of the year.. Respect 🙏
🚨No one has ever given me a birthday gift🚨 Charles Bronson was born 11th of 15 children in the coal region of the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania. His family was so poor that, at one time, he had to wear his sister's dress to school for lack of clothing. His father died when Bronson was 10, so Bronson went to work in the coal mines, first in the office and then in the mine until he entered the army during World War 2. In 1962, Bronson was acting in the TV Western series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters, starring 12-year-old Kurt Russell. Kurt found out Bronson's birthday and gave him a model gas-powered airplane. Bronson took it, didn't say a word, turned and walked off. The crew consoled Kurt, telling him not to worry about it. Kurt said, "The assistant director came to me and said Charles wants to see you in his dressing room. I knocked on his door. It opened and he looked down, but not at me. He said, 'No one has ever given me a birthday gift.' "When my birthday came up, Bronson got us both skateboards and we rode around the studio lot. Soon I was told to stop skate-boarding by the studio president. Bronson found out about it, grabbed me and we went into the president's office unannounced. Bronson said to the president, 'Kurt and I are going to ride our boards around the studio.' Bronson turned, I turned, and we walked out of the office. We skate-boarded around the lot from then on and no one said a word.
@fasc1nate This pretty much explains today's society
