This passage in @TheAtlantic essay by Adam Rubenstein is wrong. The quote is from a paragraph in which I discussed only China policy. I named a GOP senator whom I think speaks with more substance on China than Cotton. Readers know I quote a wide range of knowledgeable analysis.
@ewong you may have already said this, but did the author reach out to you for comment?
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg I don’t see how that context makes the passage “wrong.” Obviously you only have occasion to quote or not quote Cotton when he comments on subjects you cover. I guess I also think that what he says about China, even if non-substantive, is worth quoting, because he matters.
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg How about post the email and we can judge for ourselves?
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg So you’re admitting you wouldn’t quote Senator Cotton on China policy even though he’s on the Foreign Relations Committee. That seems odd.
@ewong @mehdirhasan @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg Smearing tactics bro. They pluck out words and use them against their opponents. Cotton is loved by AIPAC and the other Zionists...so you always have to take that into consideration.
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg he’s on the fucking armed services committee you self righteous maniac
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg I think it is a valid journalistic approach to much of what Senators and MoC say on a variety of topics. If this was the norm, we’d never have to hear from many of them ever again.
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg What grade is Adam Rubenstein in?
@ewong @TheAtlantic @JeffreyGoldberg Post the email you are discussing
