What Premier Moe says is indisputable. The other premiers are trying to out-do each other with insults, because they want to stoke anti-Americanism to distract from Canada's recession. Alberta and Saskatchewan are what premiers sound like when they actually want a deal, not a debate.
A reporter asks Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe if he's "elbows down" about taking on the U.S. in a trade war. "I want a trade agreement with the United States of America ... why would you want to fight with your largest trading partner?" he says.
Ottawa condemns Washington for threatening Canadian industries, creating uncertainty and driving away investment. Albertans have endured that same treatment from Ottawa for decades. We should not remain governed by a capital that treats our prosperity as a problem to be managed. Alberta should be independent. We can do better. LetAlbertaDecide.com
The modest warming pulse since the end of the Little Ice Age in 1850 supports billions of people better than any previous cold age ever did. Yet, a weird paradox dominates our modern climate narrative: we celebrate ancient warm eras as golden ages, but frame today's mild shifts as inherently catastrophic. History shows that warmth has always delivered prosperity. Look no further than Roman vineyards flourishing in Britain or Viking farms thriving in Greenland. Conversely, cold spells almost always brought hardship — marked by the Thames freezing over, expanding Alpine glaciers, and systemic crop failures during the Little Ice Age (roughly 1300–1850). When you compare the modern Holocene’s historical rollercoaster, the Roman Warm Period (250 BC–AD 400) and the Medieval Warm Period (900–1300 AD) stand out as eras of booming agriculture and expanding empires. The Little Ice Age was a harsh, multi-century reversal, that brought widespread famine and societal strain across Europe. Throughout these dramatic ups and downs, ice core data shows atmospheric CO₂ was remarkably flat, hovering steadily between 270 and 285 ppm. These climate convulsions happened purely on the back of natural variability — solar output, volcanic aerosols and oceanic-atmospheric circulation flips — all without CO₂ needing to budge. On a broader scale, today's warm blips are superimposed over a gradual, long-term cooling trend that followed the Holocene Thermal Optimum thousands of years ago, when temperatures were frequently 0.5°C to 1°C warmer than today. Earth’s climate has always been dynamic on multiple timescales, operating independently of any single variable. Warmth isn't inherently destructive. I noticed today that certain keyboard warriors and self-described “influencers” are punching down on my friend and colleague, Jeff Rath. Those people have sacrificed nothing. They have no skin in the game. Unlike them, lawyers like Jeff risked everything to stand up for people like Rebecca Ingram and many principled physicians who spoke out during Covid and were doxed. Jeff did the Ingram case Pro-Bono. I know of no other lawyer in AB who would have done that. He did it because it was the right thing to do. His firm is advancing multiple class actions on behalf of the unvaccinated and the vaccine injured. Who else is doing that? When it comes to AB independence, no one has done more to advance that cause than Jeff. He was there with APP when it was formed. Jeff is a fighter, and that is his best and worst quality sometimes. I have even had my own run ins with him from time to time. Friends do not always agree on everything, especially when they are both pig-headed. Jeff gets himself into scrapes, but never gives up. If we had more people like him in this country, I dare say that we would not be in such a mess right now. What I know for certain is that there is no keyboard warrior or social media influencer riffing on AB Independence who has done more in the arena than Jeff Rath. Perhaps it is time to stand at his shoulder, rather than punch down on him? We Christians call this loving our neighbour. This one is for you, Jeff:
The world is sleepwalking towards a multi-trillion dollar abyss — a nightmare already underway. It promises to be the ultimate graveyard story — the sine qua non of the illusion of free air and sunlight. By 2030, fully 85–90% of the 1.3 million (equivalent) turbines operating today (GWEC 2025) will reach the end of useful operations. To just maintain the status quo, they will all need to be replaced in a 15-20 year window that straddles the 2050 net zero deadline. That’s roughly 35,000–40,000 turbines per year to be decommissioned, recycled (or graveyarded) and replaced. This will then lead to a second, even more costly build-out - on top of the one we’re still paying for. At the same time, 5–10 billion solar panels (2 TW installed today) will also be retired, triggering hundreds of billions in scrapping, replacing, recycling and burying. Wind decommissioning alone will cost $90–150 billion globally ($150–250 k per turbine, offshore will be double). New turbine costs (for 2025–2050) could easily hit $3–4 trillion — on top of what we’re already spending. As for the composite blades, 1.5–2 million units - mostly non-recyclable - will be heading to landfill graveyards or incineration. As for critical minerals, each 3–5 MW turbine needs 2 tonnes of rare-earth permanent magnets (NdPr, Dy). Demand could triple while China still refines 80% of global supply. All of this must happen as public subsidies fade, fossil-fuel restrictions tighten (diesel still powers 86% of mining equipment) and private capital becomes pickier, after years of thin or negative returns in renewables. The coming 'replace-everything-again' phase will demand a WWII-scale industrial mobilisation with far less political goodwill.
Quite often I find myself reflecting on how I left my family and friends behind. I came to Alberta to find the prosperity I wasn't able to obtain in the East. I moved here from Ontario, with no money, an old Kia Rio, and all my worldly belongings of 34 years in a tiny Uhaul trailer. I can tell you with actual lived experience that the East is dependent on the government. Whether they admit it or not, that's their underlying mindset. People strive to work for the government, have contracts with the government, or try to have the government take care of them in someway. We continue to see this with the recent announcements and platitudes. They have no qualms or objections about taxpayer funded projects and applaud these endeavours. They merely expect this is the norm and are bewildered by our disagreement with their mindset. We are obviously quite different. Those very announcements are riddled with continued arbitrary regulations imposed from 3000 km away. Regulations imposed with tolls on existing oil flowing through BC as well as any future oil flowing through. Regulations subject to unrealistic environmental policies no other place in the world is required to uphold. Look no further than statements about Canada owning the oil. Or Canada owning the mineral resources. Or Canada owning the wood, the water, the land, and even the darn air you breathe. And make no mistake, the East would immediately give it to someone who agrees with their mindset. We send letters, send email, show up on their doorstep in trucks, inform our friends and family, share social media posts, all trying to explain our values and the mistreatment of the west. We have voted conservative in the last 93 years (except for that one horrible time when we mistakenly spilt the vote). Nothing has changed federally even though we consistently engage in democracy. We send transfer payments but are subject to caveats or virtue signalling social programs we do not vote for. And, if we refuse those, they withhold federal funding for federal programs. I don't mind helping our neighbours if it was a reciprocal arrangement but it is not. The lack of reciprocity is quite evident from everything explained above and more. I quickly found that I aligned more with Alberta culture than Ontario , however that wasn't my original intention for leaving. The Easts' culture has changed fundamentally, we all see it. Most would agree that Canada is not the same and many reflect on those days long ago. It's a hard truth to bear, but this is not the Canada we once knew. Time for your reflection; Is this the Canada you remember? Could we ever get those days back considering the current trajectory of Canada? Does Alberta align with the Canada you once knew? Could Alberta remain the last bastion of what we remember about Canada? I think it could. I think we have a unique opportunity to enshrine the Canada we all knew. I think we can remove the arbitrary laws imposed from 3000 km away. I think we could create viable regulations within our own borders. I think this encourages private investment. I think choosing option 2 would finallysend a clear message that can no longer be ignored by Ottawa. I think #AlbertaIndependence is our viable path to true prosperity. I think this vote truly matters. Finally.
To the Americans: I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States. And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness: You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence. This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns. Success is equated with exploitation. Ambition is looked upon with contempt. This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom. But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated. This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet. And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America: Thank God for the United States. Thank God for the wisdom of its founders. Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man. Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners. Long may your admirable country dominate the world. Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states. May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning. Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill. Thank God for the USA. Happy 250th. Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
Today, NASA satellites confirm Earth is greening dramatically. CO₂ fertilisation has added biomass equivalent to two continents of new forest in recent decades, boosting crop yields and ecosystems alike. Oceans, holding around 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere, continue their ancient dance of absorption, circulation and outgassing under Henry’s Law. The natural world keeps working its wonders. The real question isn’t whether CO₂ is 'pollution', but how we pursue genuine abundance and resilience while staying humble before these vast systems.
Nothing is different today than in 2013 when Kinder Morgan proposed expanding the Trans Mountain pipeline. Taxpayers don''t need to spend a penny for a new pipeline. If only the government would get out of the fucking way.
On today's date in 1901, over half of the U.S. was at or above 90°F and nearly 9% of the land area was at least 100°F. The same weather occurring this week occurred exactly 125 years ago, but according to most climate alarmists, it was just weather in 1901, but this week's three-day event is undeniable proof that we are facing a climate catastrophe.
At some point, Albertans have to stop pretending Ottawa is going to change. It isn’t. Alberta can’t afford to stay on Canada’s current path. Independence is about choosing a better future.
The Calgary Chamber of Commerce wants Albertans to believe independence talk scares investors. Wrong. Investors are scared by unstable rules, delayed approvals, blocked infrastructure, and federal policies that punish Alberta’s industries. That uncertainty comes from Ottawa.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Let Alberta Decide Responds to Calgary Chamber: “The Real Economic Risk Is Alberta Staying Under Ottawa’s Control” Calgary, Alberta, June 24, 2026 — Let Alberta Decide is responding to today’s Calgary Chamber of Commerce news release by saying the Chamber has focused on fear while ignoring the larger economic reality: Alberta’s economy has been held back for more than a decade by federal policies that have driven away investment, constrained resource development, and limited Alberta’s potential. Keith Wilson, K.C., co-lead of Let Alberta Decide, said the Chamber’s release misses the central issue. “The Chamber is measuring fear, not opportunity,” said Wilson. “It is warning Albertans about hypothetical uncertainty from independence while ignoring the real uncertainty Alberta businesses have lived with under Ottawa. The greatest threat to Alberta’s economy is not Albertans having a democratic vote on their future. The greatest threat is allowing Ottawa to keep blocking, capping, taxing, delaying, and politicizing the industries that built this province.” Wilson said Alberta remains one of Canada’s strongest economies despite federal policies that have discouraged investment in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and resource development. “Alberta’s farmland is not moving. Alberta’s oil and gas reserves are not moving. Our skilled trades, engineers, entrepreneurs, service companies, infrastructure, and young workforce are here,” Wilson said. “Alberta is not a branch office economy. Alberta is a producing economy.” Let Alberta Decide says the Chamber’s release also ignores the massive capital flight Canada has experienced under the current federal policy environment, with recent economic analysis reporting that more than $1 trillion in investment left Canada between 2015 and 2024. “Businesses do not leave because a people debate their future,” Wilson said. “Investment leaves when governments make the rules unpredictable, and Ottawa has done that to Alberta for more than a decade. That capital did not leave Canada because Albertans were discussing independence. It left under the current federal system.” Wilson said independence would give Alberta authority over resource regulation, taxation, immigration policy, infrastructure approvals, trade policy, pipeline approvals, and market access. “Albertans should be making the decisions that shape Alberta’s economy,” Wilson said. “Those decisions determine whether projects get built, whether jobs are created, and whether young Albertans can build their futures here at home.” Wilson rejected the Chamber’s reliance on Brexit as a comparison. “Brexit is the wrong analogy,” Wilson said. “The UK moved away from its largest market. Alberta independence would allow Alberta to negotiate directly with our largest and most important market—the United States—without Ottawa sacrificing Alberta’s interests to protect Central Canadian priorities.” Let Alberta Decide noted that the Chamber’s survey was not a representative poll of Albertans or Alberta businesses. It was a survey of Chamber members who chose to respond. Even then, the Chamber’s numbers show that a majority of respondents did not say they would relocate if Albertans voted to begin the independence process. “If the Chamber wants its poll treated as evidence, it should release the evidence,” Wilson said. “Albertans deserve to see the questions, sample size, response rate, and methodology.” “Alberta has the resources, institutions, workforce, and economic capacity to be a successful independent country,” Wilson said. The Fraser Institute says Canada’s equalization program is “badly broken” and needs major overhaul. Albertans already knew that. In 2021, over 62% voted to challenge equalization. Ottawa ignored us. This is the problem with “Lead Not Leave”: Alberta has tried asking, voting, writing, negotiating and leading. Ottawa still treats Alberta as an ATM. A referendum is not a distraction. It is the only way to force a real negotiation over Alberta’s future and Alberta becoming an independent country. "Canada’s equalization program is broken and requires major overhaul" fraserinstitute.org/commentary/can…
"Treason." That's the word LCol. (Ret.) David Redman uses when talking about Canada's immigration policies. A serious accusation—and he explains exactly why. Watch the full episode on YouTube. youtu.be/fbSwrLlBj9E @FrontierCentre @DavidRe09886944
I am so glad @Harry__Faulkner asked @ikwilson that question, and in such a way which highlights the reason why Albertans feel severely disenfranchised from the rest of Canada, particularly east of Saskatchewan Too many Canadians feel entitled to an “inheritance” of the wealth from Alberta, while condemning the way Albertans earn that wealth, without any respect for giving Albertans a say in how that wealth is spent. Eastern Canadians decide our Federal Government long before polls in the west are closed We are called traitors for resenting that and wanting to separate. Alberta is told to shut up and be grateful that we get to keep funding provinces east of Saskatchewan, and this is supposed to make Albertans feel privileged to be Canadian. Although Alberta’s oil and gas industry is a key reason that we know we will succeed as an independent nation, it is not the whole reason we seek independence. It is not just about a pipeline. Premier @ABDanielleSmith is misguided in thinking that a new pipeline will assuage all of our concerns. Not even close. ➡️Taxation without representation ➡️Equalization inequity ➡️High debt, uncontrolled spending ➡️Inflation, unaffordable cost of living ➡️Uncontrolled Immigration ➡️Attack on Christianity ➡️DEI & Woke policies ➡️Immigrants receiving more than Seniors who have paid taxes for 50 years ➡️Egregious abuse of MAiD ➡️Gun Grab ➡️Bills to restrict free speech ➡️Corrupt Judiciary and RCMP ➡️China interference & infiltration ➡️Carbon tax increases for a Globalist WEF Net Zero fantasy ➡️New World Order Opponents are telling Alberta we can’t leave but not one person can give a valid reason why Alberta should want to stay in Canada FYI, I don’t think other Canadians can just move to Alberta and a couple weeks later vote in our referendum. They have to be a registered voter with Elections Alberta and produce identification of residency that goes with that. Premier Smith had better stipulate strict voter identification and residency in a taxpayer election list for our referendum, or she will have a civil revolt. And she will face a resounding defeat of confidence at the November @Alberta_UCP AGM This must be an Alberta referendum for Albertans to decide our future in a democratic vote Other Canadians do not have an “inherited” say in our future. We’ve had 121 years of that. Albertans are done with Eastern Canadian entitlement The Canada we loved no longer exists
One of my main issues with separatism, both in Quebec and in Alberta, is that I view both provinces as part of my inheritance as a Canadian. Carving out either province fundamentally changes my country, and the only people who get a say on such a matter are registered voters
With atmospheric CO₂ hovering around 430 ppm, nature is thriving in regions once completely inhospitable. The vegetation is marching back into the world’s most hostile environments. Earth's biosphere is quietly demonstrating a profound, measurable benefit from higher CO₂. It's become a more resilient and greener world, one that is also more water-efficient. Fresh green cover is actively reclaiming the arid fringes of the Sahel (the Sahara’s southern edge), the Middle East and the Australian Outback. An 8% reduction in the Sahara Desert's expanse since the 1980s alone means 700,000 square kilometres of formerly barren sand wastes have turned green. This is a literal reincarnation of Earth's famed living deserts. It's the natural world fighting back. Since 1960, global food production has increased by over 250% to 390% (depending on the index). Most of this is from the Green Revolution—the arrival of fertilisers, tractors and genetics. But atmospheric CO₂—rising from 315 ppm to 430 ppm—is a silent yet profound tailwind behind every new hectare being harvested. It's the ultimate irony: a climate change agenda that treated CO₂ as an agent of starvation. Instead, it has become the primary engine of agricultural abundance and drought resilience. When you break down the plant science, the results are spectacular: * C3 plants (95% of plant species): Rice, wheat, soybeans and potatoes have increased yields by 30% to over 50%. Their photosynthetic mechanisms are structurally starved at lower baseline levels; extra CO₂ accelerates their growth directly. * C4 plants: Maize (corn), sorghum and sugarcane have increased yields by up to 10%, alongside massive efficiency gains during dry spells. * Root and tuber crops: Potatoes and sweet potatoes show explosive underground growth, because they have a massive subterranean capacity. Studies compiled by organisations like the USDA Agricultural Research Service show potato yields increasing by 50% to over 100% under elevated CO₂ when water is abundant. Across almost all major crop varieties, this atmospheric enrichment triggers a 10% to 40% reduction in plant water loss because leaf stomata don't need to open as wide to take in carbon. CO₂ isn't the disaster they warned about—instead it is a massive insurance policy for global food security.
