BUDGET: @SpeakerJohnson on @CNBC says he supports fiscal commission only if it can’t raise taxes. Says he opposes cuts to Social Security and Medicare
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC I've been in and around the federal bureaucracy and U.S. military my entire life, trust me when I say cutting the unnecessary and wasteful spending will balance the federal budget without raising taxes or impacting social security.
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC So…we won’t fix the budget
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC The answer to reducing the deficit & cutting our debt is to raise more revenue. We could also benefit from more efficiency in government. But Republicans only have one song to sing here: cut taxes for wealthy & corporations while the rest of us have to pay more & more.
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC The inevitable outcome of gridlock and refusal to slow the growth in Medicare and Social Security spending will be higher inflation. Politicians seem to think it’s the easier way out. I am not so sure. People might catch on and they really don’t like inflation!
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC As a lobbyist for Waste, Fraud, and Abuse LLC, I reject this.
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC Balance the budget through.... prayer...
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC If he won't increase revenue or touch Social Security/Medicare, is he planning on cutting defense spending massively? That's the only other option on the table if he is serious about lowering the deficit. @SpeakerJohnson, how much are you planning to cut the defense budget?
@elwasson @SpeakerJohnson @CNBC His mouth was moving, he's lying.
