“Elon is betting the company on autonomy! Has he lost his mind?” What do you expect from a guy who bet his car company on electrification in 2003?
@WholeMarsBlog Not quite betting the company, but going balls to the wall for autonomy is a blindingly obvious move. Everything else is like variations on a horse carriage.
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog And it's not as if it comes as a surprise, you told us five years ago, and let us assist in August to the drive 🤣. And the same screaming now that it's too early, have been screaming for five years that you are late. You can't make this up.
Here is where the phrase “Balls to the Wall” comes from. It is an engine speed governor that uses balls. Ir is called a centrifugal governor or more commonly known as a flyball governor. It's a mechanical device that helps maintain a constant engine speed regardless of changes in load. Here's how it works: The governor has two or more weighted balls attached to a central shaft by pivoting arms. The shaft is connected to the engine's drive mechanism via a belt or gears. As the engine speed increases, the balls tend to fly outwards (towards the wall) due to centrifugal force. This outward movement of the balls is linked to a mechanism that controls the flow of fuel or working fluid (like steam in a steam engine) into the engine. When the balls fly outwards, they actuate the linkage to reduce the fuel/fluid flow, slowing down the engine. Conversely, if the engine speed drops, the balls move closer to the shaft, and the linkage opens up the fuel/fluid flow, speeding the engine back up. This creates a feedback loop that automatically adjusts the engine's power output to maintain a consistent speed. Flyball governors were a crucial invention during the Industrial Revolution, particularly for steam engines, where a steady speed was essential for smooth operation of machinery.
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog I thought the mission was sustainable transport? You’re the boss, but I would have preferred to finish the first mission before moving on to the next one.
I was afraid this was what he had decided. I have very little doubt that Tesla will reach Levels 4 and 5 autonomy, but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. This move by Elon will likely lead to even more EPS contraction, and therefore, the stock will probably fall even more, potentially to double digits, before shooting back up when FSD starts adding money to the bottom line. I have a decision to make: to wait and buy as it goes down to average down, or sell now and buy back at 20% lower, maybe even more, if my prediction turns out to be correct. Of course if I am wrong I could miss a huge fast run up in the stock price. I have some tough decisions to make before next Wednesday. Good luck to all long-term investors.
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog very helpful for investors to know 🙌
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog Im just holding, whatever you do.
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog Sort of like this
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog I’m cheering for you guys. FSD (Supervised) is incredible.
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog So no more new consumer vehicles after Cybertruck & everything forward is now Robotaxi?
@elonmusk @WholeMarsBlog It’s incredible Elon!🤯🙌
