@RorateCaeli Fr. Joseph Raya’s book Byzantine Daily Worship has a Melkite rite of Eucharistic Benediction. I think it’s beautiful and a good example of East being enriched by the West.
One of the saddest things is how "ecumenical" the Western reading cycle was before "ecumenism" was a thing. Lutherans, Anglicans, they all kept the ancient Western reading cycle that long predated the Reformation. Some people think the common lectionary started after the Council! Not at all: from Bach's cantatas to the great Anglican sermons and hymns, all of Western religious thinking and sacred music were strongly intertwined with our old Roman Lectionary. It was beautiful, an ancient heritage spoiled for nothing. The fact that the Protestants kept the ancient one-year cycle is further evidence that a longer cycle was not necessary for scriptural knowledge at all: one thing the Protestants cannot be accused of is of not reading the Bible, and the one-year cycle didn't prevent it. Quite the opposite: after the new 3-year-cycle was implemented, both mainstream Protestants and nominal Catholics seem to know much less of the actual teachings of the Bible than ever before...
For years after attending the TLM I still believed the new three-year lectionary was superior, because both "more Scripture" and I felt it taught the story of salvation history better. But I've changed my views, as I've come to realize that a three-year cycle of readings during
Fun fact: the octave of All Saints was abolished in the Roman Rite by the reforms of Pope Pius XII in 1955 but it is still observed in the 1962 Canadian BCP which is used for the calendar below ⬇️

@ksm_wilson Absolutely. It’s an excellent app. I like the 1962 BCP’s modest adjustments of the psalter and the inclusion of the excised verses in the app. I just wish the psalms were presented with paragraph breaks in the app as you find in the book.
