Before Brexit, you could send pork chops to Paris by sticking them in a van. Now, there's an assault course of documentation and red tape to deal with, 23 steps in all. That's the difference between the Brexiter claim of "most comprehensive trade deal ever" and EU membership.

@edwinhayward How often did you avail yourself of this opportunity? No doubt, for those involved in the industry, there is a lot of wasteful bureaucracy (this is the EU, after all) but they manage to sell pork to countries round the world. Last year 300k tons.
@edwinhayward Speaking as a vegan, this is tremendous news!
@edwinhayward Most trading countries have these import / trading requirements and most can be and are automated, sampled or even waived. The transition is painful but it’s not as complicated or difficult as claimed….
@edwinhayward And of course this would suit the big players, with small players having to close shop, with this in turn giving more to the big players.
@edwinhayward @Tadge5 Brexit was a great folly, not one iota of good sense in it, just a wicked playing to the gallery of the Red Wall voters.
@edwinhayward Of all the lies of the Leave campaign (and there were many), the idea that Brexit would reduce 'red-tape' was probably the most egregious.
@edwinhayward Brexit was and continues to be an act of treason
