I was apart of many meetings for the fast ferry service. Way before in actually happened. I am happy it came to reality. Now we must improve it. My step fathers dad. (Aka my grandfather) was a ferry captain and drove the ferry from staten to Brooklyn. Lets bring in back!

WHY PEOPLE HAVE NO FAITH IN THE GOVERNMENT’S ABILITY TO DO INFRASTRUCTURE IN NEW YORK The current construction disaster on the Van Wyck Expressway has been dragging on since 2007 - nearly two decades of bungled phases, blown deadlines, ballooning costs, and daily traffic misery. For context: the entire highway was originally built in just three to four years, between 1950 and 1954 - without today’s technology, without armies of consultants, and without billion-dollar burn pits disguised as “budgets.” We’ve gone from building highways in four years to endlessly “upgrading” them for twenty, all while delivering less and costing more. That’s why nobody trusts this government to get anything done. The expressway was supposed to improve access to the airport. Now it’s just a permanent construction site named after Robert Anderson Van Wyck, the first mayor of the consolidated New York City.

The glazed ceramic surface of subway tiles was easy to clean, an important consideration for a public transportation system in a densely populated city. In the early 1900s when the NYC subway was being designed, public health concerns were at their peak. The city had experienced numerous public health crises in the late 19th century, including cholera and tuberculosis outbreaks. There was a growing understanding of germ theory, and the consensus thinking of the era emphasized sanitation in public spaces. Public Perception and Policy The architects and planners understood that public perception of cleanliness would be crucial for the subway's acceptance and success. The gleaming white tiles provided: Psychological Comfort: Passengers felt reassured by visibly clean surroundings in what could otherwise be perceived as a dark, underground space.
