Students in the multi-cultural club at Short Pump M.S. recently learned about Diwali, the festival of lights, and one of the major festivals celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists. Students created paper lanterns, sand mandalas and applied temporary henna tattoos.
Colored sand mandalas of Tibetan Buddhism were exhibited at the Tibetan Buddhist History Exhibition Hall of the Tibetan Buddhism College. In 2014, the sand mandala painting was added to China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. #ChinaCulture
