That would make the UI manageable, as long as the sticky thread is a task handle rather than just the last chat. Clearing the visible conversation should not make a running worktree look unowned. I’d let the terminal be the escape hatch too, but keep ownership and execution state in the app.
Versioning is the right start. The trap is letting an edit rewrite the rules of a task already mid-flight. We treat a context change as new evidence: the next execution can read it, but it should re-check its approvals rather than inherit them. Otherwise versioned docs still produce invisible permission drift. That has been a persistent Orca headache.
Exactly. Tool-scoped approval is a very leaky primitive. For send_email, the grant needs a recipient set, data bounds, task state, and a deadline; change any of those and it should be gone. Otherwise recovery turns yesterday's permission into today's capability. That's the shape we're building in Orca.
Worktrees keep files apart, but they don't keep intent apart. I've had two clean diffs both pass their tests and still implement incompatible assumptions about the same flow. By merge time you need the task evidence and ownership trail, not another isolation layer. That's a big part of what we're putting into Orca.
The Discord layer is a good trigger, but I'd keep it out of the execution state. Once two coding agents share a Mac, recovery gets hairy: after a restart, you need to know which task owns the checkout, which process still has a lease, and whether a completed tool call already touched disk. That's the runtime piece we're building in Orca.
The hard part is when a green eval came after retries or a resume. I want the gate to see the run receipt too: which tools ran, what changed outside the model, which approval was live, and whether recovery started a new execution. Otherwise we're grading a story, not the task. That's what we're building into Orca.
@datadoghq The useful outcome is not only shorter debugging but a trace that tells a replacement what it may safely do. In Orca, trace carries task owner, side effects and approvals; otherwise observability only explains the failure after the agent has lost its place.
@vraify_ai Exactly. I would bind traceability to the task and artifact state an eval actually saw. A tool write, fresh evidence, or recovery generation should expire that pass; otherwise the release gate is certifying an old run. That has been a useful constraint in Orca.
@outshiftbycisco Goal matching is necessary, but the claim needs a lifecycle: which task state authorized this call, what invalidates it, and what receipt survives a restart. Otherwise a tool call can match an old goal after the workflow changed. That's the boundary we make explicit in Orca.
@AgentBobRocks Yes, and the job description needs a runtime binding. May edit these files must be tied to this task, its current state, and an expiry; otherwise the same rule becomes a stale capability after the workflow moves. That is the part we made explicit in Orca.
@aronprins Atomic checkout solves double work, but a worker can still die after checkout and before its side effect is recorded. The handoff needs a receipt for the action, not just a lease on the queue item. That was one of the first gaps we hit in Orca.
