Big @eROSITA_SRG news today: The first catalog of galaxy clusters and groups in the Western Galactic Hemisphere led by @dresrabulbul with M. Brüggen and others. Contains 12247 optically confirmed galaxy groups and clusters with 8361 new discoveries.

In this paper, we take the 5466 X-ray sources which are detected in the hard (2.3-5keV) band (shown below), and attempt to classify them/figure out which astronomical object the X-rays are coming from. Thanks to eROSITA's very high positional accuracy, we can readily do this!

Big @eROSITA_SRG news today: The first catalog of galaxy clusters and groups in the Western Galactic Hemisphere led by @dresrabulbul with M. Brüggen and others. Contains 12247 optically confirmed galaxy groups and clusters with 8361 new discoveries.

In this paper, we take the 5466 X-ray sources which are detected in the hard (2.3-5keV) band (shown below), and attempt to classify them/figure out which astronomical object the X-rays are coming from. Thanks to eROSITA's very high positional accuracy, we can readily do this!
