Work ethic is everything.
Not 1 match missed so far, every game has had some sort of analysis on my page no matter the kick off time. 5pm, 6pm, 8pm, 11pm, 2am, 3am, 5am UK time you name it i’ve been there with live analysis.
With me currently 18, me doing the extra is what will get me ahead for the future. 💪
Job done for Mexico,
I felt the Mexico outside CB’s defended Lee Kang In’s dropping movements really well, clearly something they worked on in the build up to this game after it was so threatening for Korea vs Czech. Krejci was very ‘do I follow do I not’ in the first matchweek, no hesitation for Mexico.
Korea with a lack of quality on the ball and in their attacking actions, this is why I always say back 5’s have ceilings so much lower than back 4’s. 5-2-3 mid block with the intention of locking on higher up the pitch to make it man to man but the press wasn’t always backed up behind the forward line.
In possession a 3-2-5, similar game plan to the Czech game of let Lee Kang-In’s drop deep and look to attack the space in behind through 3rd man runs. As mentioned earlier Mexico defended this well.
Mexico with a similar structural out of possession approach to Saudi Arabia, a 4-4-2 mid block the entire game until they take the lead before dropping into a 5-4-1 through dropping a winger back. Did concede control with the ball however when changing to the 5-4-1, led to long periods of them pinned back. Man to man from restarts.
Good in game subs too such as taking Raul off, was evidently knackered and the intensity in his work off the ball was lowering as the game went on.
3-2-5 deeper before transitioning into a 3-1-6 with wide triangles on both sides for Mexico in possession. Quinones inverted with Gallardo high as the primary width holder on the left. Need more runs in behind however.
We have an exciting end to group A!
🇲🇽🇰🇷
I don’t think either team have transitioned from zonal to man to man higher very well in this 2nd half.
The idea and intent is there but not always the execution.
For Korea around 2 out of 3 times there’s been 1 or 2 missing jumps behind the first line of pressure to back up the press.
For Mexico the frontline have not always transitioned from zonal to man to man higher when they opportunity is there, they were doing it consistently in the first half so a combination of fatigue + being more cautious with a 1 goal lead probably playing a factor.

Mexico building in a 4-4-3 turned 3-2-5 deeper and a 3-1-6 higher, how that backline has been created has varied with the FB’s alternating between dropping into the backline and advancing. Usually it’s Gallardo advanced with Sanchez tucked in but we have see moment where the left
🚨 BREAKING: RB Leipzig turn down €100m proposal received from Liverpool for Yan Diomandé.
RB Leipzig want more than €100m as still try to keep him — understand €120m could be the way… for now, based on WC performances too.
Leipzig expect PSG and more clubs to join the
Kang-In Lee the orchestrator to everything, dropping a lot more post drinks break. Looking to use his dropping movements to manipulate the positioning of the Mexico outside CB’s before his teammates then look to penetrate the space behind.
Similar positional manipulation to what we saw Korea do with Krejci in matchweek 1.

Wide triangles when they move to the 3-1-6, nice fluidity within these between ball side 8, winger and FB.
Out of possession a 5-2-3 mid block for Korea which can transition higher into a man to man press but not reliably, at times missing a jump to make it man to man all over. However If this is intentional I can see why as when they look to transition they force Mexico wide and long whilst Mexico’s spare man is the far side FB who’s free through the far side Korea wingback not jumping, This makes the Mexico +1 inaccessible and gives Korea a +1 on the defensive line. Although saying that it looks like the actual idea is to transition man to man so we can only assess it from that point of view.
Mexico’s 4-4-2 transitions higher up into a man to man press a lot more reliably and quickly.
Feel like Mexico are missing runners and depth at the moment. Everyone wants to receive to feet in the final 3rd getting frequent touches on the ball deep. More runners!
Qatar got a great moment at the end of the Switzerland game no denying that, but there’s also no denying Switzerland should have won that game about 6-0.
Lopetegui has tried to make Qatar more of a threat in transition through pushing the forwards higher in the mid block. Quality has let them down.
Qatar are easily one of the worst teams in the tournament with extremely low player quality.
Canada with lots of energy in possession, moving the ball from back to front really fast.
3-2 build up which can become a 2-2 with both FB’s advanced. We’ve also seen a 3-1-6. Various different build up shapes.

Canada not pressing from Qatar goal kicks, instead starting deep and transitioning man to man if Qatar play out, they do this as usually Qatar pass once or twice and then kick long so through Canada pressing in this way it makes them better prepared for 2nd balls.
Qatar in a 5-2-3 off the ball, wingers higher than in a 5-4-1 to make them a greater threat in transition.
Great start for Canada 🇨🇦
