Another personal insight..I'm on a roll tonight! My mother is in a care home in the North East of Scotland. The carers I see each time I visit are mostly young and truly brilliant with her and so caring. In my home town there aren't loads of jobs but there is more to it. 1/n
Those running the home (and a fair number of others) grew up in my locality..I'm being obtuse to prevent identification. However the local connection is important - no money going offshore! They pay a bit more and support training meaning they retain staff. It also means we 2/n
pay a bit more for my mothers care. However I love to see how the young carers interact with my mum and make her laugh. Money from long-term care should never be going offshore. This is an ever increasing need in our society and all funds should remain in the system!
