We don’t really have a mental health system - because it is not designed as and has not evolved as a system. It’s a disorganisation of disparate agencies working in discord with each other.

@Keirwales @jadethebpdcoach @DrGipps It’s about recognising people as valid humans & not writing them off as bad or ‘maladaptive’. We also don’t want people to SH but to give space to understanding rather than just shutting it down. It’s interesting your response to the exhibits is to shoot down this perspective 2/3

@scousepie @nuwandiss And based on three levels with no lift and I was having huge problems walking. The consultant thought only admission was safe. I’m still not clear why they could overrule him, refuse to work with me and say I was the issue 2/2

@scousepie @nuwandiss This very much mirrors my experience of being stuck in A&E for a few days while the liaison consultant argued with the crisis team about admission. The crisis team said I was being obstructive not wanting to go to an unsafe crisis house where half the staff were my colleagues 1/2

They say: "You have challenging behaviour". I say: "I am a multiply neurodivergent, traumatised person - who has faced immense iatrogenic harm - experiencing overwhelming distress & sensory overload in a highly activating, triggering environment. I am doing my best to cope".

@IamCarrieagain @CallMeMoNow Completely - I have asked repeatedly to reduce/come over weight-inducing meds and been advised I need to focus on 'lifestyle management'... my favourite was when I said I was concerned about Type 2 the reply was 'have you actually been diagnosed with it?'!! I'd like not to be!
