there are two broad categories that the world can be divided into 1. people who try to change the external world to the largest possible degree - will to power, ultra high agency, conquer nature, transcend death, measure, lead through reason and rationality, ignore feelings as irrational, make humanity interplanetary, dominate other countries, work for the benefit of all possible humans that could exist not just currently alive life forms, humans over animals, build the future, science fiction focused 2. people who try to accept their internal world and the external world the way it is- living in harmony with nature, cherishing your short life with your friends and family, hedonism, savoring what you have, gratitude meditation and journaling, family first, accept that life is suffering and necessary, focus on what you can control right now and ignore the rest, care for the current people, most old religions and hippie adjacent people the first group believes that the second is lazy, mediocre, cowardly, psyoped, stupid, weak the second group believed the first is evil, power hungry, cold, hates people, delusional, deeply immoral, unethical, blinded by ambition etc from a game theory perspective, the problem is that the first type of person infringes on the lives of the second type of person’s way of living meaning they have to learn to accept increasingly difficult conditions that they have little to no control over and no belief that they can even have control because the natural world / divine universe/ god / universe as god is not something humans can and should conquer

your gifts are medicated away by drugs. you need to perfectly balance a house of cards to function. your difference from typical-ness is called a disability and you buy the narrative. you live in a perpetual state of complete and utter fragility no better than an old man. embark on an epic quest to learn to channel your gifts instead and self actualize into a one of one being. your soul craves it

@Shaun_Fosmark possibly but I think it’s also possible that people don’t treat ai like humans. ai is to humans what video games are to real life. this reminds me of the concern that people had that violent video games would make people violent in real life. iirc that’s not what happened

the dark side of family being important is people feel financially stuck to a family that might be a terrible fit for them. nordic societies have solved this by moving that financial responsibility to the state meaning individuals can choose to stay close to family rather than be obligated to do so

@maxmarchione I’m sure I could find a study that contradicts this like most things health but subjectively I’d agree with the sentiment that it’s only useful to do tasks that are absolute drudgery in which case you should probably just change the tasks you’re doing rather than taking a drug
