"I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away to say to my senior leaders, I demand accountability." - Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller on the failures in Afghanistan that led to American servicemen dying.
@dhookstead Insubordinate statements like this are inevitable when no one in the chain of command is held accountable But make no mistake—no matter how reasonable the Lt. Colonel’s statement may be—it nevertheless represents a stress fracture within the military We need to turn this around
@dhookstead Exactly. Lower ranking officers should be able to pick and choose what orders to follow and only do things they agree with. That sounds like a great plan! 😂
@dhookstead I feel for the man. But something is wrong when you start off by saying you've been fighting for 17 yrs. We've been in Afghanistan for 20. The lack of victory goes back to the very beginning. How many more years if we stay would it take to defeat the Taliban? Another 20?

@dhookstead @SecDef @DepSecDef @CMC_MarineCorps @USMCSgtMaj Lt. Col. Stu Scheller is violating his oath as a military officer and is causing division w/i the ranks. It is not his place as a subordinate officer to air his personal grievance about military strategy. Hold in confinement now.
@dhookstead Hero, we need more to speak up. Where are our senators, don’t fear these online paid trolls, we are bigger than they are.
@dhookstead "I've got battalion commander friends who are posting similar things." I can only hope that's true buddy. Semper Fi.
@dhookstead @MeghanMcCain Since Meghan is retweeting this, she should know since she has family in military that you do not speak against senior leaders while serving. You learn this in basic training.
