I’m not a global talent but here’s how I will handle this: 1. Queue the email sending, with graceful retries, Infact I queue all blocking requests any request that will block the free flow of operations, I queue them. 2. I don’t know your flow but you could: Allow the user login and block access to authenticated pages while telling them they need to verify their email with option to resend the verification email OR Let them in with limited options till email is verified, clearly displayed across all pages for them to know they need to verify their email and an option to resend the verification email.

Your registration endpoint shouldn’t leave orphaned users in the database when the welcome email fails to send. The problem: user creation lives in PostgreSQL. Email sending lives in an external service. You can’t wrap both in a single database transaction. The fix: if the
