🚨A new amendment recently passed in the House dramatically broadens the definition of "spy" and could force Americans to spy on each other. Analysis here from FISA Court adviser @MJZwills warns of this dangerous, "overly broad" spy language: news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/fi…
As soon as Wednesday, the Senate will vote on FISA reauthorization including this “Everyone Is A Spy” amendment. If the Senate fails to remove the amendment, it will be handing the president, and whoever the next president is, a knife to ram through the back of democracy.
@demandprogress @Snowden @MJZwills Every bit of legislation put into law for terrorism right after 9-11 should be repealed. I was against the invasion into privacy then and I’m against it now. Knee jerk reaction caused us to lose more of our freedom than ever.
@demandprogress @Snowden @MJZwills In just 3 years, the USA government has transitioned 90% of the way into what looks a lot like 1920's/1930's Moscow, Berlin, Rome, so nothing now should be a surprise.
@demandprogress @Snowden @MJZwills During communism in Eastern Europe, everyone was forced to become an informant. This has the same stench.
