I want my country back. During the most important time of the Christian calender we get this. Anyone else want their country back? telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/2…
@LeeAndersonMP_ Now explain why Easter moves every year - if the week is so sacred Jesus is meant to have risen - surely he only did that on a specific date of the calendar year?
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ Isn’t it odd that Jesus birthday always falls on the same date every year but his death can be anywhere in a 4 week window?
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ The date of Easter is dependent upon the date of Passover because the original Easter occurred at Passover. Passover moves, so Easter moves.
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ Damn that lunar cycle, how dare it stir up racial and religious discontent! Time that woke moon was given a damned good thrashing and brought down to earth! Bloody satellite bodies just floating around, skiving & causing decorative street lighting & variable religious holidays!
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ When I lived in Damascus and Christmas and Ramadan were at the same time, people openly celebrated both.
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ I wasn’t aware that it was your country @LeeAndersonMP_ ? It belongs to all of us, and many others don’t share your opinion.
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ Probably the second Sunday in April. A fixed Easter has its merits (not least because we wouldn’t now be losing an hour of Easter Day due to the nonsense of clocks changing!) but it would mean losing the Passover link. All major faiths in our country should be celebrated.
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ It’s not Easter that moves. It’s the phases of the moon. Ramadan also moves. Our Julian calendar has moved from the previous one.
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ Don’t expect 30p to deploy logic! I’m surprised he’s a practicing Christian… with his track record 🤷♀️
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ But if you’re in retail Easter starts the Saturday before Christmas unless Christmas Day falls on a Saturday in which case it’s the week before but no later than the last shopping day before Christmas.
@dave43law @LeeAndersonMP_ Easter Day is set by the Pope. In practice it is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring equinox. Many cultures celebrate the Spring equinox. Christians do not have a monopoly on it!
