Just had to pay £17 in customs charges to get three Easter eggs sent by grandparents in Ireland, released from the Post Office. Yay for Brexit!
@daraobriain Why would anybody post Easter eggs? Can’t they transfer you the money and you buy them? How about the carbon footprint as well? Some people are just obsessed with anti brexit rhetoric
@daraobriain Was there at least a packet of tayto thrown in aswell.
@daraobriain They've hosed you, there is no import duty on personal gifts worth under £135 and then up to £700 it should only be 2.5%
@daraobriain I had to pay 90 quid or so to release my own mobile phone which I had stupidly lost in Düsseldorf and had been posted back to me by Rheinbahn. It still annoys me now!
@daraobriain No offence to your grandparents but a system that discourages needlessly flying or shipping millions of air-filled chocolate eggs back and forth between countries when they're manufactured everywhere seems like a good thing, overall.
