We should be much more worried about population collapse
UN projections are utter nonsense. Just multiply last year’s births by life expectancy. Given downward trend in birth rate, that is best case unless reversed.
@elonmusk I don’t understand why dropping birth rates is such a bad thing for humanity or the planet. There’s all but 8 billion people on earth, we aren’t going extinct by a slowing of the birth rate any time soon. Why is it a bad thing? Legit question too, not trying to start an argument
@dadbod791224 @elonmusk Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Russia Italy, Spain, Germany France, UK USA if you look at natives all settle at about 1.2-1.5 birtsh/woman. That is 1/3rd to few. That means every generation (30 years) is -33%. Or once we peak, 90 years later only 2.37 Billion of the 8 will remain.
@dadbod791224 @elonmusk With a decreasing population & increasing life expectancy, too large a portion of your citizens are old/retired. In 1960 there were 5.1 workers for every retired person getting SS. It's now down to 2.7. The math gets tricky.
