D-8 Ülkeleri COP31 Toplantısı’nda, COP31 vizyonumuzu ve Eylem Gündemimizi kapsamlı bir şekilde değerlendirdik. İklim değişikliğine uyum, kayıp ve zarar, iklim finansmanı ve adil geçiş alanlarında yürüttüğümüz istişarelerde; D-8 ülkeleri arasında çevre ve iklim alanındaki iş birliğini güçlendirecek somut adımları ele aldık. Antalya’ya giden süreçte ortaya koyduğumuz ortak yaklaşımın, gelişmekte olan ülkelerin küresel iklim gündemindeki rolü açısından da güçlü bir mesaj taşıdığına inanıyoruz. Eylem Gündemimizin önemli girişimlerinden biri olan “İklim Uygulama Köprüsü” ile Ulusal Katkı Beyanları ve Ulusal Uyum Planlarının uygulanabilir projelere dönüşmesini desteklemeyi hedefliyoruz. During the 4th #ShushaGlobalMediaForum, we had a dedicated session on presentation of the Strategic Framework of the D-8 Media Excellence Center (D-8 MEC), organised by @AzerMediaAgency. This marked an important step towards strengthening media cooperation, professional excellence, digital innovation, capacity-building and knowledge-sharing among D-8 Member States. Grateful that Excellency @HikmetHajiyev, Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, graced the occasion and spoke about the importance Azerbaijan attaches to its D-8 membership and to this particular initiative. Separately, we had a productive delegation-level meeting during which we exchanged views on our growing partnership as well as the status of the three Centers of Excellence — on the Media, Energy and Climate, and Transport — being established in Azerbaijan as part of the Honourable @azpresident Ilham Aliyev’s vision. I also engaged with leading international media outlets through a series of interviews on the current priorities and future trajectory of #D8. Privileged to participate in the 4th #ShushaGlobalMediaForum in Shusha, Azerbaijan, themed: “The Mission of the Media in Promoting Peace: Restoring Truth and Rebuilding Trust.” Held on 13-14 July, the Forum was attended by 160 distinguished media leaders, senior officials, academics, and practitioners from over 50 countries. The factors shaping the current global information space, the impact of rapid technological advances including AI, the challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation, and responsible role of the media in the obtaining environment were among the key questions considered during the various sessions. It was an honour to be part of the 3-hour long, deeply insightful High-Level segment with H.E. @azpresident Ilham Aliyev, during which he shared in great depth Azerbaijan’s foreign policy perspectives as well as its outlook on major regional and international issues. Honoured to be received by H.E. Foreign Minister Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) for a bilateral meeting during my visit to Tehran. I reiterated our condolences, reaffirmed solidarity with the people of Iran, and wished success for the Iranian leadership’s efforts for durable peace, progress and prosperity. I also apprised him of recent progress on various tracks of cooperation within the D-8 framework and highlighted the D-8’s present profile and future trajectory. Foreign Minister Araghchi graciously thanked for my participation in the ‘Farewell and Tribute Ceremony’; underlined Iran’s strong national resolve as well as commitment for peace through dialogue and diplomacy; and emphasised the importance of enhanced economic cooperation in the transformed regional landscape. FM Araghchi also reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast commitment to D-8 as a founding member and assured that Iran would continue to contribute substantially to the advancement of D-8 agenda of cooperation across the broad spectrum. We exchanged views on ways to realise new opportunities for increased trade, investment, energy cooperation, and hard and soft connectivity, arising from the transformation underway. During the visit, I also had substantive interactions with H.E. Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Saeed Khatibzadeh and D-8 Commissioner Ambassador Alireza Tootoonchian. Attended the Ministerial Conference in Istanbul, today, on “Protecting Health in Earthquakes” — jointly organised by the World Health Organization (@WHO) and 🇹🇷Ministry of Health (@saglikbakanligi ). The Conference brought together Ministers, Senior Officials, practitioners, academics, international partners, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen resilience and enhance global cooperation in earthquake emergency management. On the sidelines, I had valuable interactions with the Ministers of Health of Türkiye and Indonesia, H.E. Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu; and H.E. Budi Gunadi Sadikin. We talked about measures for further deepening D-8 collaboration in the health sector and strengthening partnerships in this priority area on the Organization’s agenda. Health security is a collective responsibility.
