Growing up I heard about the Cultural Revolution. My mom’s family fled their home, with nothing but gold that my grandmother sewed in their clothes. My dad’s grandparents fled to Taiwan, leaving him and his parents. I’m glad 3 Body Problem is starting to tell these stories.

Did not expect such vitriol, but facts are irrefutable: poverty is awful, and so is justifying the murders of millions (including 1.5 million TEACHERS)
@cynthiawu_ People are confused though- The Three Body Problem is a sci-fi story like Dune or Foundation. It isn't about the cultural revolution it's about the future and the present.
@cynthiawu_ Did you ever care about opium war and eight nation alliance invasion that eventually led to the chaos and despair that culminated in cultural revolution?
@cynthiawu_ It was telling such stories in 2008 when it was published in China. If you would read and not just watch movies, you'd know that this was discussed back then inside China. Netflix is much less influential in China
@cynthiawu_ Nonsense. The CR was a literacy and public health campaign that liberated 400,000,000 peasants and taught them to read, write and vote. Million still celebrate it every year.
