this would essentially be my strategy if i were to ever hang my own shingle. likely as solo vc, probably would want ~$300M to execute the strategy (though would be a tough ask as fund i for an 'emerging experienced manager' as i'd call myself), and in addition to allocating to funds and having a very active co-investment strategy within the portfolio, i'd probably write another 10-20 sub-$500k checks per year directly sourced into pre-seed or seed rounds, with a very low expected graduation rate into meaningful follow on. wouldn't try to be "value add" and wouldn't promise any bit of "signal" in subsequent rounds. simple, decisive capital with no silly requirements like ownership% or min check size or other formulaic venture norms. put dollars to work in the best companies at the best price that i can and then trust the process. perhaps over time my compounding direct 1:many network (as a solo gp extended to all my portcos, managers, and managers' portcos) would deliver value in some form. i suppose this concept is free for the taking to someone who can execute on it. don't mind sharing it as i know i'd out-execute anyone on it, or at the very least will have a nice "i told ya so" to point back to if someone else runs with this before me

and have the fluency to explain both where the puck is going and why a certain founder will win that opportunity when it arrives. it can still sound crazy and weird, but explaining someone else’s vision in simple to digest terms with conviction (and supporting data) on par with the founder themself is a super power
