I had the privilege to interview Paul Reubens about his not inconsiderable role in making the 40th year reunion for the Sarasota High School class of ’70 the first to be integrated. He attended the school in 1967 when it first accepted Black students. tampabay.com/news/nation-wo…
In 2010, he told the alumni committee he wouldn’t take part unless there was finally an effort to reach out to the black students who had, for years, had their own reunion. His efforts led to a public apology from the class president.
