5 days agoOn time is late. Early is on time... I pick my teammates up when they fall. I "learned to ride a bike through failure and persistence"
Kids seeking scholarships, keep fighting. But if it doesn't happen, use the process in everything that you do.

Coach Sorrell @coachsorrell
5 days agoLet me be clear! I am highly competitive! 😂😂😂 Just ask my wife about our first date playing pool😅. But I've learned that you the process outweighs all things. It's the process that stays with you. I still try to follow directions the 1st time, or I'm ready to do it again 9.

Coach Sorrell @coachsorrell
5 days agoIt'll make you a great dad or mom because you learned how to push through adversity. It'll make you a great leader because you learned how to GO FIRST, and pull up people as you climb. 8.

Coach Sorrell @coachsorrell
5 days agoThat same process, if done correctly, will make you a good husband or wife because you learned how to communicate properly. It'll make you a great coworker because you learned that TEAM success outweighs everything. 7.

Coach Sorrell @coachsorrell
5 days agoBut they'll talk for hours and days about the practices, the bus rides, the team sleepovers, that time when coach said "___", that time when Player X did that funny thing. It's the process that you should be chasing after. 6.

5 days agoNobody remembers the 1994 NCAA Basketball champion without looking it up. But I'm pretty sure you have some great memories from that year. Every coach/player that has won at the highest level that I've talked to can barely remember the details of the actual game... 5.

5 days agoYou fight anyway. You go to work anyway. You 'Pound the Stone' anyway. Too many people are goal oriented instead of process oriented. It's through the process that you learn how to live your life...not the achievement of the goal. Again... let's keep it 💯 4.

5 days agoIt might not work out for several reasons outside your control, or some that may be in your control... - too short - too slow - got hurt - grades - not enough exposure - etc. But guess what... 3.

Coach Sorrell @coachsorrell
5 days agoIt needs to be said...you can do absolutely everything "right" and still not get an athletic scholarship to play your sport. You could pay for the best trainers, play for the "right" high school, the "right" travel team...and it still doesn't work in your favor. 2.

5 days agoYou Aren't Entitled to Your Dreams 📖 Pound the Stone, JoshuaMedcalf (a thread) I have a little time today. Let's have a real convo. The chapter above, to me, is one of the most powerful chapters in the book listed. If you haven't read it yet, definitely add it to your list 1.

6 days ago@DwanSatchell @CoachHixonDimes let's say the part that no one wants to hear...a very low percentage of players actually go past high school. It just may not work out for you. But you chase it anyway. If it doesn't work out we thank the process and for the time you've had and we build on a different path.
