Wish we had more information on: - number and distribution of H5N1 test results, incl negative -epi links (if any) between affected herds -outcomes in infected animals -active surveillance in humans, swine -more genomic data -whether stockpiled vaccine matches vs CVV ...
@cmyeaton I think there has been resistance to testing/access that is out of the hands of CDC. Not sure if states declaring state of public health emergency could potentially change this.
@cmyeaton Sounds like the CDC learned nothing from Covid-19.
@cmyeaton The sick cows are lactating usually means milked 3x per day and housed indoors 24hrs per day Non-lactating (dry-pregnant or young heifer) not currently getting sick We should test the manure pits weekly per 1,000 head-barn $20 to weekly test a barn or $20,000 to test a herd
@cmyeaton @MarionKoopmans I’d like to know the sensitivity of flu A antigen tests for swabbing conjunctiva. If herd infections keep growing exponentially we will have spillover. Human flu A is fading so I don’t care about specificity.
@cmyeaton Aside from whether the data are actually being collected: there is unfortunately a long history of lack of candor during domestic epizootics.
@cmyeaton Are we doing wastewater sampling? If not, why not? Influenza is easily detected in sewage.
