A NOBEL WINNING PHYSICIST ARGUED THAT NO AI, NO MATTER HOW POWERFUL, WILL EVER TRULY UNDERSTAND A SINGLE THING IT SAYS. HIS REASON IS NOT COMPUTE OR DATA -- IT IS A MATH THEOREM FROM THE 1930s THAT SAYS SOME TRUTHS CAN BE SEEN BUT NEVER COMPUTED 81 minutes with Roger Penrose -- the Oxford physicist who won a Nobel for his work on black holes and general relativity. -> His claim: whatever consciousness is, it is not a computation. A machine following rules can imitate understanding, but never actually have it. He builds it on Gödel: a human can just "see" that certain statements are true, even though no algorithm can ever prove them. That seeing, he argues, is non-computational. If he is right, understanding is not something you scale into. You can stack a trillion parameters and still have zero awareness underneath. Which cuts straight through the AI moment. Everyone assumes bigger models will eventually "wake up". Penrose says that is a category error -- more computation is still just computation. You thought intelligence and understanding were the same thing. This is the conversation that pulls them apart. Save this. It is the sharpest case against the hype ↓

AI works exactly like every other tool in your business. Most people treat it like magic. So many organizations approach AI like it's something necessary, something almost magical — a pill that makes everything work, skyrockets every process, transforms the business overnight. That approach is exactly where the real problems start. Successful entrepreneurs never built a business around a tool. They built the business. Then used tools to run it better. The work actually begins when you stop treating AI like magic and start treating it like a tool — something that helps you reach a goal, get something done. So instead of asking "where can we implement AI" — ask what's actually slowing you down. What process is wasting time. What's taking longer than it should. What problem, if solved, would actually move the business forward. That's the right question. "Where can we implement AI" is the wrong one. It flips the whole thing backwards — you start looking for places to use the tool instead of looking for problems worth solving. And that almost never delivers real value. Somehow, with AI, people keep doing it the other way around. Have you ever implemented AI just because everyone else was doing it — not because you actually needed it?

While millions knew Carl Sagan from television, his students at Cornell University experienced his philosophy firsthand. He famously taught an undergraduate introductory seminar where the entire grade depended on challenging assumptions. The unwritten rule was simple: students could earn an “A” for completely disagreeing with Sagan on a scientific or philosophical point, provided they used strict empirical logic to support their claim. The lesson was intellectual humility. Sagan would deliberately present a convincing but flawed scientific argument, wait to see who blindly accepted it because of his authority, and then dismantle it to show how easily the human mind can be swayed by a famous title or confident delivery.
