Kenny Pickett had two concussions in 2022. Tua Tagovailoa had two concussions in 2022. One of them is a sudden media darling with consensus expectations to rocket off his 77 passer rating in 2022 and into the 2023 playoffs. The other is tagged with "thoughts and prayers". OK.
Chris, if you are the co-host of a podcast you should probably check your facts. Kenny was in PROTOCOL twice. The first time he entered protocol but wasn’t concussed, he was a full participant in practice less than 48 hours later. The NFL and NFLPA agreement states that a player is only able to be a full participant in practice if they have been cleared for a concussion or they have to wait seven days prior to being a full participant.
@ckparrot I fail to see why this is a big deal and deserved a post about it.
Tua took over a month to recover from his last one. One is mobile, the other one isn’t (Tua). Pickett only missed a total of 1 game in 2022 due to injury, Tua missed 4. Not all concussions are equivalent. Tua suffered his by falling & hitting the back of his head on the turf. Tua is at significantly increased risk for missing extended period of time if he sustains another one. Pickett is not.
@ckparrot You obviously didn’t watch them and the player reactions or you would tweet this. You can break a leg or a car can run over your leg and there both a broken leg. Watching Tua you were scared for his life.
@ckparrot Tua had 3, one which required him to be carted off the field cause his brain basically shut down*
@ckparrot It’s amazing that not only was the same energy not shared between these two, but suddenly the Steelers have become the it team in the AFC.
@ckparrot Not all concussions are made equal. I've never seen such a scary thing as Tua "throwing up gang signs" from a player after a concussion. For his sake I'm worried for him that he is one more concussion away from something catastrophic.
