My dear front-end developers (and anyone who’s interested in the future of interfaces): I have crawled through depths of hell to bring you, for the foreseeable years, one of the more important foundational pieces of UI engineering (if not in implementation then certainly at least in concept): Fast, accurate and comprehensive userland text measurement algorithm in pure TypeScript, usable for laying out entire web pages without CSS, bypassing DOM measurements and reflow

Incredible how much performance improvement captionfy.com got after switching from an Angular app to @nextjs Completely worth it the time to rebuild the platform. Along with performance improvements, the development speed / experience has got much better 👀

@Chrontendo @internetarchive I discovered a rendering defect in the AVI file for this episode on Archive. Somehow the horizontal and vertical dimensions got swapped, so the AVI file has black bars baked in on top and bottom. The MP4 is unaffected by this. Hopefully your master copy is unaffected.
