He's looking at used Teslas. I'm currently driving FSD on my second car, I began on 2019 Model 3 but obviously not until the beta started and I got in. I upgraded to HW4 in order to use FSD transfer. When I did that, FSD want even offered on HW4i was warned it could be a year. It's been getting exponentially better the last 2 years. Currently FSD 14.1.4 is really, really amazing I use 100 percent of the time and I have no doubt it will continue to improve. Every other car on the road does not have FSD and really less than 20 percent of owners pay for FSD. Future HW5 may be necessary for full robotaxi rent out, but HW4 is much better than good enough to keep you safe and chauffeur you around. Recently drove 2 10 hour trips with no interventions except for an almost missed turn into a new rural hotel driveway. I didn't see how HW4 FSD would suddenly become worse, it is very good and I'm looking for more features, like dropping off and parking itself... The current automatic parking is very good and the fleet is basically training for driverless parking. So what totally necessary HW5 feature should a used car buyer wait 3 years for?

Check vin for Austin or Fremont build. Initially in mid 2023, only Austin builds had HW4, and Austin builds also has the rear megacast and 6480 cells. I used FSD transfer to buy an Austin build even though range is reduced and price was only 4k lower. At the time, no Fremont builds had HW4. Both do not have deleted USS and radar with the change to vision but that continues to all current Y, 3. Correct not to buy unless HW4 if you intend pay for and to use FSD. Love the troll suggesting HW5, try only for a few seconds to find a used Y with it.

@JowuaLife @darpinian Agree—rolling stops could work if the car user opts in and sensors confirm no pedestrians or animals nearby. Balances safety and efficiency—worth asking NHTSA about! Personally, I’ve found them dangerous; a following car might look for traffic that isn’t there and rear-end a Tesla that unexpectedly stops when the roadway is clear. Maybe change the rule for humans too with those qualifications, but disallow at urban signal intersections with crosswalks for added safety.

Since FSD 12,13 this has only gotten better. In 2019,2020 other cars would get annoyed with automated driving. Now, that never happens and pedestrians and drivers motion to be accommodated and my car on FSD is so polite they wave thank you not knowing that I just let FSD roll. They have no idea that I'm not driving.

FSD 14.1.3 was able to make a tight driveway turn into direct sunlight in GA at the Mountain Top in. I was on high alert because I had never been there before and I was completely blinded. My windshield was very clean, i had thoroughly cleaned abs rainX coated it before my trip and I drove through rain and washed with Rainx wiper fluid. I let the car continue though i was blinded for 7 seconds or more in a turn that crossed the sun position. Previous release would error "Take over immediately" or "FSD degraded". Not a peep centered on the 1 car narrow blacktop because i would have felt the gravel sides abs i could check on later drives. Amazing. I also had it stop for a person i didn't initially see, and i had i slow down, stop , and meander through a flock of white ibis birds covering a neighborhood street on other occasions.

Parked very quickly at Costco. Chose a line near the door , one spot only was open, smoothly turned away and stopped, immediately reversed and one perfect curve and straighten into spot. MM perfect center placement. Sooo much better. Left my garage in reverse and steered past cars in driveway faster than i would... then took off. So parking much better.

Flashing school zone 2023 MY HW4 did exactly 20mph posted only for exact sign to sign without lead car. Neigborhood gates perfect. It HEARD!? a fire engine behind me a full 3+ seconds before I could barely hear it and well before i could see it. Car accelerated to make a gap, turn signal, jumped in right lane even though left turn nav coming up. Then it went partway in bike lane and slowed down. I disengaged not knowing what's up but then heard siren so I stayed put and looked around. Much better, full marks on these edge cases that were not handled in FSD 13. Much faster and smoother unpark and park.
