Been overseas and have only just heard the superb cartoonist @tonyhusband1 sadly died a few days ago. In 1986 I sent some cartoons to the letters page of Oink!; he replied suggesting I contribute for real. Blew my mind. I was 15. My 1st job. I’ll always be grateful. RIP.
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 Kind people are just kind aren't they, they don't shout about it, they just show it. R.I.P. Tony ❤️
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 Ah that’s brought it home even more. Such sad news after so many happy funny times. My Dad worked at IPC so gave me the first launch & subsequent editions that added such glee & mischief on to the baked in 2000AD kid I was. RIP indeed
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 I loved oink. Sometimes I thought I imagined it as it was so out there.
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 I never realised he was involved with Oink! (or you either). I will miss his work so much.
@charltonbrooker @adamboultonTABB @tonyhusband1 Oink! Oh wow, i forgot about that, i bought it regularly and won my first (only) BMX bike from there What a fabulous comic
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 Oink!!! Bloody hell! Forgotten all about that.
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 Best kids comic that never made it. I even remember the Oink song they taped to the front in vinyl. ‘If I was the prime minister I’d make a brand new rule, to open lots of sweet shops and shut down all the schools’. At least the rivers wouldn’t be full of sewage.
@charltonbrooker @tonyhusband1 Another Oink fan raising a glass to a missed man. 🍷
@charltonbrooker I was Uncle Pigs assistant for a while!
