Child-free pubs are back causing DISCOURSE so reposting this column I wrote, which is hopefully both sane and balanced x
@rhiannonlucyc It really is as simple as kindness and empathy isn't it? Empathy that parents shouldn't be shut out of spaces generally, empathy that kids are part of society and empathy that some people want spaces away from kids. Perfectly possible for all these things to coexist.
@charlieh1988 And they largely do offline, I find!! Our pub kicks kids out at 7 which is the perfect compromise imo
@rhiannonlucyc The town I live in has 6 or 7 pubs and most allow kids no issue, a couple don't, which works fine. Big Penny Social in London does the same thing you mention which has also worked fine when we've taken our kids there to meet friends.
