Just turned down an invitation to be on a panel with topics including "Is domain expertise, like linguistics, necessary for the design of #NLProc benchmarks?"
My dude, did you really just invite me to be on a panel to debate whether I should be on the panel?
It’s pretty simple: Google Meet (original) was previously Meet, which was the rebranded Hangouts Meet. Meet has been merged with Google Duo, which replaced Google Hangouts. Google Duo has been renamed Meet, and Meet has been temporarily named Google Meet (original), for clarity
Want to hear a simple idea to tackle climate change?
Give workers extra time off to go on holiday by train rather than plane.
This would cut the carbon of a trip from the UK to Paris by 90%. Any organisation could introduce this overnight.
tbf on the first point, @thejenna wrote a cool piece about UI in games and how they've been affected by trends for better or for worse. in any case, it seems discord is not immune to propaganda (silicon valley trends in navigation bar placement)
polygon.com/videos/2020/7/…
if no one else is going to write about how protective gamers are of their UI and how this change would exacerbate the frustration they already feel about popularizing a platform only to be abandoned by its developers (whether or not that feeling is justified), then i'll do it
anyway that was all from a single poorly punctuated line in an article about the figmuh and ex-dee merger i read while procrastinating on wireframes so i think i need to redirect my energy 💀
all jobs are "creative" jobs because it is our labor that creates value for our respective employers; we are inclined to take pride in what we do and that extends to the tools we use to do it, absolutely regardless of field
either way, i can't think of any "non-creative" jobs that don't still have people dedicated to the tools they use to do their work? baristas with their favorite milk pitchers, IT techs with their preferred diagnostic tools and equipment, the agricultural ford f-150 cult, etc etc
i can't tell if i just read that someone believes becoming emotionally invested in the tools you use to create is something unique to ux/digital design or if they were just talking about creatives in general bc. huh
tbf adobe didn't say that, just everyone reporting in on the same adobe help forum for seemingly every xd update since 2019. they didn't say that, their silence says enough 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
me: trying not to freak out after I accidentally deleted all the information on a page i just worked on while trying to move it, googling why command-z isn't working in adobe xd
adobe: o yea that just happens sometimes lol
