Vice President Vance gave a masterclass on how to respond to the rise of socialism during his sit-down this week with Laura Ingraham. I think a lot of conservatives are getting really caught up in “this is evil!” and “this is crazy!” (and it is both those things), but also it’s vital to examine who is turning to it and WHY. In my view, it’s due partly to ignorance because of the fact we don’t properly teach children about the evils of communism and socialism (I never had a lesson it), partly to laziness, and in large part to younger people feeling like they were sold a false bull of goods and can’t get ahead. We can mock those young people as lazy and stupid and entitled; we can lecture them about pulling themselves up by their bootstraps and then demand they vote for us—or we can, as the GOP, offer them a viable alternative to death by socialism; we can offer them renewed optimism, American pride, and a thriving middle class.
