I've been thinking... "Normal" wasn't normal to begin with. Giving your best hours, days, years to school & work from 5-70 isn't normal. A few days off a year to really enjoy life isn't normal. No wonder folks are willing to risk death for a scrap of fun. #COVID #capitalism
Our lives are spent separated from loved ones serving the rich. Work/school days leave little room for meaningful interactions or entertainment. Homework, dinner, showers - what time is left? People cling to their bars & restaurants because that's all this rat race left us with.
@catladyactivist Well unless you’re born to multimillionaire parents Who put money away specifically for you to live off of & not work as much. you have to work get a good ed. to get a good paying job to where you can retire early & enjoy life. we all have to work to have life as we want.
@catladyactivist I was thinking this when I was told I should send my kids to school. Guess I started breaking that thought when I decided to homeschool after seeing the continued push to be productive earlier and earlier in school. Now I’m being told by many I’m doing good by them. It’s hard but
@catladyactivist I really think you've nailed something important here. Most people don't love what they do, either (I did, once I found it), so that just adds to the mix. I might be able to be a bit more compassionate with this in mind...
@catladyactivist @elisaperego78 Nothing is more important than quality of life, and money can’t always buy that. In fact, it inhibits quality of life much of the time. Money is addictive.
@catladyactivist That’s why I work part time. Life is for living, not for working then spending your hard earned money on “treats” to make yourself feel better about being knackered and having no time to yourself. Anti-capitalism and anti-covidism ways of life suit me.
@catladyactivist This is an insightful, compassionate, and important take.
