Some napkin math as a thought experiment: Approximately 4 million people globally work in movie-making and film-adjacent industries. Considering the world’s population is around 8 billion, this means that the stories we see are coming from only 0.05% of the world’s population. As of 2023, approximately 67% of the world’s population, or about 5.4 billion people, has access to the internet. If the cost of accessing professional-grade filmmaking tools eventually depends on one’s access to the internet, we may be on the verge of a golden era of storytelling.
@c_valenzuelab Finding that gold amidst the avalanche of content will be the challenge. Big market potential for AI with intuitive taste to curate the vast amount of amateur creations 😆
@c_valenzuelab I think that's true... sort of. Most Hollywood franchises are clearly being run by spreadsheets and lack innovation, but they still own awareness. Games are a lot more fragmented, but they also easier to market without infinite budgets. We need better distribution platforms too
People that want to tell stories or make art, music find a way to do that,it’s a drive…tools help but are not fundamental. And we already have soo many tools, cheap cameras, cheap or fee software . So this theory that assumes everyone will be a story teller because of AI is super flawed. What AI will most likely do is to empower those 0.05% to tell stories in more spectacular ways.
@c_valenzuelab Yes! I’m so ready for it. There are hidden gems out there. I also think many people don’t realize just how creative they can be. Having these tools at their fingertips is going to open a whole new world for them
Considering AI has allowed people to express themselves and learn new ways of visual storytelling, it’s the beginning of An age of artistic abundance and more ways to express oneself with less friction. We are in a special time. With more people being able to tell the stories they want to tell, we will be exposed to so many more perspectives allowing us to see the world through the eyes of others more so than we already do now. It’s happening everyday and the best story tellers will capture the hearts and minds of the people We are so fortunate to be alive to witness this moment in time.
@c_valenzuelab Yes. And it will also give existing studios the ability to expand and greenlight many more projects. Those that adapt anyway.
