I need cis people to understand that attacks on trans and gender marginalized people are not “distractions” from the so-called “real” issues but are, in fact, intentional moves to fortify patriarchal power, a fundamental pillar of capitalism and the State.
When you frame attacks on us as “distractions” you imply that attention needs to be *elsewhere* rather than be “distracted” by attending to and challenging attacks on trans people. You decenter our struggle even as we’re fighting for our lives and autonomy.
@butchanarchy @Brian_A_Hackel Your entire framework for understanding things may be a bit skewed. Good luck, work hard at something that pays, get enough sleep, break habits that hold you back, always keep learning, and look for the good.
@butchanarchy Those of us who've been on this merry-go-round for a while remember all the issues that were claimed to be "distractions" - from gay rights to abortion, and civil right and women's lib before that. There's always supposed to be something "more important" to fight for.
@butchanarchy “Attacks on trans lives are attacks on collective sociality and social provisioning…attempts to maintain gender oppression … are part of neoliberal attacks on the public sphere and workers' empowerment.” kboo.fm/media/114905-s…
@butchanarchy @GreatDismal Lee, really quick, what's it called when you use an appelation in reference to a group that the group doesn't itself use or consider neutral
@butchanarchy @emmoniko_vi Claiming that the struggle of some are less worthwhile than others… it’s all implicated in the attempt to debase social change. Walk that pipeline and soon *nobody’s* struggle is worthwhile.
