Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director Tony Clark today released the following statement:
@MLBPA_News @MLB_Players With all the things happening in this world it is ridiculous that grown men cant agree in playing a game. I love baseball and all major sports, but I am fed up with this. The players are scared if getting sick and wont play half a season for less money. Try working for a living.
@LarryAkcfan @MLBPA_News @MLB_Players It never ceases to amaze me when fans side with billionaire owners who cry “unprofitability.” Feel free to sell the team to somebody who doesn’t think it’s a hedge fund
@brenick77 @LarryAkcfan @MLBPA_News @MLB_Players If players think it is such a money maker why don’t they buy teams when they retire? Whose side do you think Derek Jeter is taking? Players worry short season could kill stats due to slump decreasing their future value. Every think shortened season might also lead to great stats?
@brenick77 @LarryAkcfan @MLBPA_News @MLB_Players Their all rich AF, so those poor millionaires don't pull my heart strings. The owners will lose money this season (no profit) The players are arguing over whether they should profit 1.7 Billion or 1.4 Billion. This is fully on the MLBPA.
@brenick77 @LarryAkcfan @MLBPA_News @MLB_Players American sports and their owners have had it backwards forever. Owning a sports team should not be a highly profitable endeavor. In European soccer the governing body had to put a limit on how much teams/owners were allowed to LOSE
