Jean luc Godard:
@borninxenia Godard is the single person who has had the biggest philosophical impact on the way I view art, outlining what it can do, what it does do, what it should do, and what it can't do. Nobody loves or hates cinema more than him.
@0liviaolive He's the ultimate artistic hypocrite, he wants it to be a tool for more but keeps realizing it can't be, but he never stopped, he never could give up. I can't relate to any other artist as much.
@0liviaolive His whole career is a series of attempts and subsequent realizations, you don't see him ever settle on an answer or ideal a single time through his career. You see his life on cinema, you see him thinking and contemplating and refusing to concede.
@0liviaolive Someone like guy Debord is also interesting and imo majorly valuable, but he's the equivalent of only Godard's filmic disillusionment. Love both (one more as an artist, one as a theorist), but Godard's equal parts passion and despair will always drive me more than any other artis
@0liviaolive He's one of very few genuinely honest political artists.
