Birthrights are pleased to see the much-needed new Coronavirus Regulations which will come into force next Monday. The new Regulations make it clear that birth partners are exempt from self-isolation rules when they are supporting someone at antenatal appointments or during birth
This change means that the law does not ever require a person to give birth alone. This should mean that no one has to go through what Christina experienced earlier this year independent.co.uk/news/health/co…. We remain very grateful to her and others for sharing their experiences.
You can find the new Regulations here: legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2021/364/…
@birthrightsorg Thank you. Please can you point me to which part of that long document is relevant to pregnancy and birth? Are women now entitled by law to have a partner present at appointments and birth?
@birthrightsorg Under General exceptions in relation to gatherings, para 4. "Exception 8: births (12) Exception 8 is that the person concerned is attending an expectant mother giving birth (“M”) at M’s request."
