New column ($): Making sense of the biggest trades from the last 48 hours, including deals for Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, Sam Howell, Keenan Allen, and Minnesota's trade up (presumably) for a QB? espn.com/nfl/insider/st…
@billbarnwell Always good Bill, love reading your columns.
@billbarnwell Except that trade would be to the commanders not the pats
@billbarnwell The Rich Hill chart likes the trade for the Vikings. Interesting how you conveniently left that one out. They absolutely have a tentative trade in place but it likely depends on how the board falls. Best case QBOTF Worst case CB/DL Arnold/Murphy (i.e.)
@billbarnwell They might be bidding against themselves There is noise around the Giants but they are stuck with DJ’s contract in 24 They might try to get QB1 next year not QB 3/4 this Meaning trade down not up & if out of contention trade away eg SexyDexy mid season who would bring a haul
@billbarnwell Was it really some insider secret that the Vikings wanted to move up to get a qb
@billbarnwell They prob have a tentative deal with LA at 5. Vikes don't want to do it now cause someone could jump them and LA prob wants to wait cause if someone does jump to 4 for a QB they can take mhj. If he mhj isn't there they are probably fine trading out of 5.
@billbarnwell Everything you say about Steelers drafting is true of Howie Roseman especially since he took back power. He’s hit on D. Smith and (IMO) Wentz. Carter looks good. Jury is out on Davis and N. Smith. He’s hit on later round picks, & smart trades/free agency signings.
@billbarnwell Bears LT at 9??? That’s … unconventional thinking compared to most predictions I’ve read.
@billbarnwell I think the Vikings trade to 5, then trade with the patriots after that with another 1st. (Maybe 2 years down instead of 1 year down?). Patriots more likely to say yes to 5 since I doubt the cardinals pass up on Harrison jr which sets up them to pick McCarthy.
