After 2.6M views, the @AmDiabetesAssn defends itself, claiming carbs are essential. Incorrect. A v. small amount is needed for brain/eye function, but this glucose can be made from protein via gluconeogenesis. The human requirement for carb consumption is zero. ADA, your own 2019 consensus report stated that carb reduction had the "most evidence" for controlling blood sugar-->key for combatting diabetes. You know the science. Please act on it. diabetesjournals.org/care/article/4…
@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs You need carbs for intense or long distance cardio. People should just run or walk 10 miles a day or more to use them up
@bigfatsurprise @jeffdavismd @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs Not according to human dietary evolution: we evolved onto carbohydrates 7500 years ago. Our brains then had enough energy through adenosine tri phosphate to create art, science, music, mathematics and the written word. I’m going with team science and evolution here!
@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs That's just WRONG. I'm a neuropsychologist - the brain does NOT need dietary carbohydrate for fuel. In fact, dietary ketosis is showing strong evidence as a benefit to the brain. Furthermore, our bodies can generate plenty of glucose when we are in ketosis.
@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs Thanks for posting this Nina, I was so pissed when I read this and had to respond. This is so ridiculous!

@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs Any time you exert or get excited gluconeogenesis occurs in the liver. Basic science of sympathetic nervous system activation must escape @AmDiabetesAssn
@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs Nina is not a scientist - if she was she would have a better understanding that sugar, a sugar molecule, is the supreme precursor molecule for any and all biochemical goings on in the body - this for ALL living organisms (plants, animals/humans, bacteria). No sugar = no life.
@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs Well said. There’s no such thing as essential carbohydrates
@bigfatsurprise @AmDiabetesAssn @KenDBerryMD @MeatMafiaBrett @MEATritionCom @CarnivoreIs She’s ex Kellogg’s and definitely the wrong person for this job
