Paris saw bicycle usage double in the last 4 years. This follows a decade of investments in a safe, comfortable, cycling network & the announcement of an additional 180km of cycle paths & 130,000 bike parking spaces by 2026. 📍 Paris 🇫🇷 🎥 @EmmanuelSPV
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV Is there an article I can read about this?
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV How come some places are smart enough to do it and others are not?
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV That is exceptional. I remember 10 years ago being impressed by the number of cyclist, and terrified by the lack of bike paths.
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV 1/2 Playing advocate for the Prince of Insufficient Light: Paris is a city slightly smaller than Boston with more than three times as many people. It's also a lot flatter. If you doubled the number of riders in Boston, you'd only get to < 5%.
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV Paris should be uniquely suited to cycling. It is said that during 19thC redevelopment the boulevards were reconstructed to be wide enough to prevent protests. This means there is plenty of room for cycle lanes. In the 1980s, the wide boulevards just meant race tracks for cars
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV If you build it they will ride 💪🏽
@berkie1 @EmmanuelSPV Wait so it didn’t turn Paris into “h@ll on earth?!”
