Monday reading recommendation: "How will AI reshape art" by the inimitable @benadavis from @artnet from earlier this year! "if you want to predict the future of “art” in the shadow of generative A.I., you specifically do not want to focus on what the technology makes it easy to…
@benadavis "Futurology is mainly people telling you what corporations are already doing." Nice pair of articles, but as you say, they're about "how A.I. might be rewiring the perception of art," not so much on making artistic use of the technology. Luciano Berio in 1985:
Fascinating essay on the impact and interweaving of artificial intelligence and art critically explored by @benadavis - so much food for thought!

This is one aspect I think @benadavis missed in his otherwise excellent @artnews AI essay, and where @jamesbridle has been especially articulate: the digital/physical interface
@benadavis I thought your article was excellent — but then again, I had never heard of Devon Rodriguez before I read your review. Then I saw this! youtu.be/DbgBGqF2w-g?si…

@benadavis was right to be sceptic in an interview by
@learmonth - this democratic-by-design technology haven't fundamentally changed the art scene mechanics

Today is the day!
Make sure to check out our sessions on Culture including talks on sports in a socialist society, the AI boom, Marxism & Religion, popular science fiction, a conversation between @aja_monet & Robin D.G Kelley, and our co-writing session!
The conversation follows a two-part response to the essay by @benadavis on @artnet. Part one is about affirmation in art criticism, and part two is a response to Sean's invocation of "the good" in relation to artistic judgment news.artnet.com/opinion/sean-t…
@benadavis ~2001 I was at a jazz critics event at the Village Vanguard. Gary Giddins was asked why he didn't write negative reviews. He responded: "given what little space there is for jazz criticism in the media ATM, I don't think there's value in negative attention."
Most of why I didn’t love Succession. And it was not funny enough to make up for the shallow commentary - when funny is a main draw that’s um, a problem. It was more clever than funny, a cardinal sin. @benadavis@nyreviewofarch
Don’t miss him if u r around-@benadavis at Spike Berlin: “Art in the After-Culture (and After)” Date and time Tuesday, July 4 · 7 - 10pm CEST eventbrite.com/e/ben-davis-at…
Really savvy piece by @benadavis on Komar & Melamid from their retrospective at Rutgers. Just wish I could visit the show - hope it travels. news.artnet.com/art-world/koma…
