City AM has actually made an (understandable!) mistake in the lede here. The 76 children figure is *per bat*. With the total budget of the bat tunnel, we could have saved at least 22,800 children from malaria, or housed 6,600 British families for a year.

Not good. UK GDP shrinks for a second successive month in October, according to latest @ONS figs. Worse than economists expected. Largely driven by a sharp fall in the output of the production sector (eg manufacturing, mining etc)

The government get a wide variety of ideas 3) Properly funded - govt problems are tricky and complex. They need good teams to spend years on them, not just pro bono time.

Startups and governement are so different that you can just sprinkle a bit of startup dust on tricky problems. @CivTechScotland points the way 1) They spend time defining the problem, so startup teams have a clear ideas what to work on
