When you commission an artist, I promise you, 99.9% of the time you aren’t doing us a favor by “giving Us free range” for a piece you want. For most of us, this doesn’t help at all. There needs to be a foundation of ideas of what you’re looking for. More often than not, if you take the time to sketch out an idea (i have literally made masterpieces from stick figures) and or provide visual and descriptive references, in the hands of a skilled artist you have a better chance of getting the best out of them.
