24 years ago, Elon Musk was driving Peter Thiel in his McLaren F1 when they flipped the car and both could have died. imagine a world without Elon and Peter. it would be a world with less innovation, less dynamism, less ambition. it would certainly be worse world. just a few inches different and we could have lost two of the most important people in the last two decades. on the great founder theory ... people matter.
@auren They both have done immense damage to 1) the environment (Musk) 2) politics & civil discourse (Thiel). While I personally am happy they alive bc Catholic morals, there is ZERO doubt our world would be better off with them gone.
@auren One of the great things about Elon’s continued ambitious successes is that he’s no longer a person, but a mantle. And when he eventually retires or passes, others will step up in that vacuum to try and claim the mantle.
@auren Somewhere out there... is an McLaren F1 engineer... who engineered in enough safety... to save the world... The heroes are not always televised.
He did not flip the car. They hit an embankment on Sandhill road when he punched the accelerator (627 HP McLaren with no traction control. The back wheels broke loose.) The car spun laterally several times but was totaled when it landed. Again.. They did not flip it. Fun facts... The car was uninsured. Elon's last words to Peter Theil, his passenger who had just asked, "What will this car do?" "Watch this."
@auren Also, people are only good at certain things. Not all things. Listen to their opinions carefully.
@auren (Hands on knobs) When exactly did you say this was? Where?
