Erica is far from a “complete idiot.” She is one of the kindest, bravest and most supportive people I’ve been lucky to call a friend. She’s fearless in critiquing systemic issues that make a lot of white people uncomfortable. The world is a better place because of @wickdchiq.
Look, I love dogs. I love all animals. That’s why I don’t eat meat (as I’m sure many of those furiously defending Bingo while hurling racism at Erica do). There are also some scathing critiques of the cruelty of using dogs in policing. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/…
At a time when we’re facing an opioid crisis and many other issues in our communities, a large chunk of city money went towards police, who used it in a huge display to honour the preventable death of that lil guy. There is a fair critique and conversation to be had here.
You don’t have to agree with it. But if you think it’s cool to add to a racist pile on against a living, breathing Black woman in defense of a dog that shouldn’t have been in the position to be killed in the first place? You might want to check yourself.
